Trading Places Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman June 14, 2018
Paramount has re-released the classic Eddie Murphy/Dan Aykroyd Comedy 'Trading Places.' The film first debuted on the Blu-ray format way back in 2007, right at the beginning of the
Blu-ray format's lifespan. The film was subsequently released several more times, once in a two-pack with Coming to America, again in 2013 under the Warner Brothers label, and once more that same year in a three-pack with two other Eddie Murphy films (Norbit and 48 Hrs.). Unfortunately, the studio has not
remastered the film for this release. Audio and video presentations remain unchanged and no new supplements are included. This is simply the old
disc slapped into new packaging.

Trading Places Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

While no new extras are included, this release may be notable for the inclusion of two items. The first is a slipcover that should satisfy collectors,
though it's fairly simple without any embossing work. The second is a UV/iTunes digital copy voucher, which alone practically makes this a worthwhile
upgrade, presuming fans haven't already bought the film on the digital format. For full supplemental reviews, please click here. For convenience, below is a list of what's included:
- Insider Trading: The Making of Trading Places
- Trading Stories
- The Deleted Scene: With optional Executive Producer George Folsey, Jr. commentary.
- Dressing the Part
- The Trade in Trading Places
- Trivia Pop-Ups
- Industry Promotional Piece
Trading Places Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

While Paramount has not taken the opportunity of Trading Places's 35th anniversary to offer a remastered Blu-ray, the inclusion of the
slipcover and the digital copy are welcome little additions. The A/V quality is passable and the supplements are decent enough. Recommended to
new buyers or for anyone who just has to have a digital copy of the movie, particularly since at current (at time to writing) prices this set is just a
couple of dollars more than the digital copy alone in the iTunes store.
