Overview

The Wire: The Complete First Season (2002)

On the drug-infested streets of West Baltimore, there are good guys and there are bad guys. Sometimes you need more than a badge to tell them apart. <br><br> The first season introduces Baltimore homicide detective Jimmy McNulty, part of a detail trying to bring down the Avon Barksdale drug organization. McNulty tries to play the system by making friends with a judge, only to anger his higher-ups. That will become a theme for him. <br><br> Meanwhile, within the Barksdale crew, D'Angelo Barksdale struggles with his role in the game, and gets off on a murder charge. We meet street folks including Omar Little, a scarred, gay thug who makes his living ripping off drug dealers; and Bubbles, an addict and police informant.
