A battle of gigantic proportions looms in the neon underground of New York City. The armies of the night number 100,000; they outnumber the police five to one; and tonight, they're all after the Warriors—a street gang blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader's death.

Paramount has widely released a Blu-ray SteelBook packaging variant for the cult favorite 1979 film 'The Warriors.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the 2007 wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

The glossy-smooth SteelBook will show some residual fingerprints in the black areas, which comprises much of the front top half. The film's title is
scrawled in familiar red lettering top center, while the bottom two-thirds features a throng of gang members facing forward. Of course, those in the
front are more prominently featured and includes a smorgasbord of identifiable characters from the film in the first few rows. The rear panel recycles
the artwork from the original Blu-ray release, featuring seven gang members walking in tandem, framed at an angle. The image is black-and-white,
with the dark portion at the bottom. The spine is black with the film's title, center, as it appears on the front. A white Paramount logo appears at the
top.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one Blu-ray and one DVD, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features nothing but a field of fiery sparks and embers; this is an image that
Paramount recycles from time to time in its SteelBooks. It is not exclusive to this release.

It's a shame that this release was matched with a new disc or a UHD. The SteelBook packaging looks fine front and back. The inside is lazy and the disc is a recycle of a 16-year-old release. For die-hard fans of the film only.
