In the year 2005, the Autobots and the Decepticons are still locked in battle, but a deadly new force enters the fray--a giant killer planet known as Unicron. The heroic Autobots must fight for their own survival and to save their home planet from destruction. A classic of 1980s animation, based on the popular TV series.

Shout Factory has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the 1986 cult favorite film 'The Transformers: The Movie.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release; note that the linked standard packaging release is not due on store shelves until September 2021. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Shout's SteelBook is not glossy smooth but not matte, either. It will show mild fingerprinting in the darker areas. The front image depicts
Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime holding the Matrix in front of his chest. It's glowing with brilliant lines extending in all directions. He is standing in a spartan
blue area.
The film's title in familiar type and color scheme appears bottom center. On the rear panel is Galvetron, posed for battle in the same dark blue space;
collectively these panels hit on the setting for the climactic battle in the film. On the top rear is the text "Beyond good. Beyond Evil. Beyond your wildest
imagination."
in white, center. Below ae some additional logos and legalese strewn across the bottom, mostly in white. Some of the fine lines on the front and back
are mildly reflective, as is Rodimus himself; a nice visual touch. The spine continues with the dominant dark blue coloring. The film's title appears
center just as
it does on the front. "2-disc set," UltraHD, and Blu-ray logos appear at the top and a Shout logo at the bottom, all white.
Inside, a sturdy envelope holding four cards -- depicting Hot Rod, Optimus Prime, the severed Unicron head, and Megatron, all with starry blue border
and the white text "Beyond good. Beyond Evil. Beyond your wildest imagination." across the top -- is tucked under the left-hand side tabs. The two
discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a colorful outer space scene with Unicron on the left. A gaseous blue
substance frames the left-hand and bottom sides while a massive red planet fills much of the rest of the frame.

This is a nice looking SteelBook. The colors are great and the inner print is excellent. Some fans may prefer the 2016 SteelBook, but with some extras exclusive to that set, fans may as well own and enjoy both! The film is a legend and the UHD presentation is a home run. Very highly recommended!
