Almost four years after the film's standard 4K edition, Warner Bros. has released a new Collector's Edition 4K Steelbook of Ben Affleck's The Town exclusive to Best Buy, both in-store and online. All on-disc content is identical to that earlier release, which includes the theatrical cut in 4K and an extended version of the film on a separate Blu-ray.
For information about the 4K's 2160p transfer, please refer to our review of the standard 4K edition.
For information about the DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix, please refer to our review of the standard 4K edition.
As mentioned earlier, all on-disc extras are identical to those found on the standard 4K edition.
Though it owes a lot to Heat and several other crime thrillers, Ben Affleck's The Town is an absorbing and well-made film featuring great performances and explosive action sequences. It's been made available on home video many times since 2010 (including a well-regarded 4K edition back in 2016), but Best Buy's belated Collector's Edition 4K Steelbook offers a nice packaging upgrade that looks great in person. While the asking price is high for a catalog release, it's still recommended for die-hard and those who have not purchased the film on 4K yet.
