Paramount has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the the epic 1956 film 'The Ten Commandments.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release but also includes the 1923 film and accompanying special features that were originally absent from the 4K wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.
For a full UHD video review, please click here.
The UHD disc does not feature a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X soundtrack. Instead, it simply repurposes the existing Blu-ray's DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack. For a full audio review, please click here.
The SteelBook's front cover prominently depicts Charlton Heston's Moses left-center, a full body view, holding the two stone tablets containing the
Commandments. He is in front of a very dark red background. The film's title appears center right in large yellow letters, along with Cecil B. DeMille's
name in smaller type. The rear panel features another full body portrait against a dark red background, this one of Yul Brynner's Ramses in full royal
regalia. The spine carries over the front panel colors for the background and the title, which is situated slightly above center. A Paramount logo appears
at the top and a rather large UHD logo at the bottom, along with a smaller Blu-ray logo and the text "4-disc set."
Inside, the digital copy floats; there are no tabs to hold it down. the four discs each earn their own hub, two on the right and left panels and two in a
moveable leaf affixed to the far left side of the right-hand panel. The inner print is a two panel spread depicting the parting of the Red Sea with Moses
holding his arms up on the left-hand side.

and accompanying special features.
Great film, great SteelBook. It's very red, but it works. The film's title on the front could have been debossed, but it's hard to complain, especially with the epic inner print image. The movie is legendary and the UHD picture quality is outstanding. It's great of Paramount to reintroduce the 1923 film disc as well. Very highly recommended.
