The Lost World: Jurassic Park 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Justin Dekker March 20, 2026

The second film in the 'Jurassic Park' trilogy, 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' returns to 4K UHD disc in this new release from Universal. Previously only available in two multi-film sets, the Jurassic Park Trilogy: Limited Edition SteelBook 4K, and the Jurassic World: 7-Movie Collection 4K, the latest iteration of the film, with both a Dolby Atmos audio track and a new 2160p presentation with Dolby Vision, is now a standalone release. Original cast members Jeff Goldblum ('The Fly (1986)'), and Richard Attenborough ('The Great Escape'), are joined by Julianne Moore ('Chloe') and Vince Vaughn ('Swingers') as they head for Jurassic Park's "Site B" for another dinosaur-infested adventure. A foil-enhanced slipcover, a Blu-ray disc, and a Digital Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere are also included.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

Of the original trilogy of leads that made up the cast of the first film, Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcom was, in my opinion, the most consistently entertaining, and his approach to the character does not change here. Placing him in the dual role as suitor to paleontologist Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), and struggling parental figure to the young Kelly, Goldblum gets to showcase differing postures and emotions depending upon the female with whom he is sharing the screen. While certain aspects of Ian may change situationally, both sides of his proverbial coin have the same quirky underpinnings. The Dolby Vision presentation adds subtle improvements to to the colors on display and skin tones, though inherited issues regarding softness in certain effects shots persist. The Dolby Atmos track, however, is a clear winner, providing better immersion and handling the score and sound effects more convincingly. Fans of the original trilogy, or the franchise as whole, who have been hesitant to pick up one of the previous multi-film sets with the new 4K presentation should be pleased, and the new stand-alone release of The Lost World: Jurassic Park 4K comes very highly recommended.
