Paramount previously released the entire series of 'The Legend of Korra,' first on a season-by-season basis from 2013-2015 (links below) and as a full series boxed set in 2016. This new SteelBook release includes all four seasons on eight discs which are identical to the standalone releases and the boxed set; all that's new here is the external presentation, which very good. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the packaging.

Paramount's four-SteelBook collection ships in an attractive outer box that is of a dark gray/near black color scheme. The front features the show's
title
top in debossed lettering in an earthy beige color. The text "The Complete Series" and a small Blu-ray logo appear at the bottom, also debossed in a
similar color. There is some ornate debossing work around the perimeter, including symbols for the four books flanking a cutout where one can
view
the artwork on whichever of the four SteelBooks one would like to place in that position. None of the other sides feature any debossing work. The
back
panel includes the title, a series plot blurb, a special features listing, and some tech specs. The spine features the title top, the four book symbols
running vertically down the center, the text "The Complete Series" at the bottom, and Blu-ray and Paramount logos below that. Box top includes the
show's title and "The Complete Series" text while the bottom houses the barcode, some microscopic legalese, and some various technical specs and
studio and
ratings logos. The four SteelBooks fit inside individual slots which are moveable, somewhat flimsy cardboard pieces. The entire box could stand a
little
more sturdiness, but it should stand up to basic handling and usage.
The SteelBooks proper are gorgeous. This review will not explore each one individually; there are detailed photos depicting each one's exterior and
interior panels. But a few thoughts in general are in order. Each one is smooth but not excessively so. These will show some fingerprints in the
darkest
corners of the artwork but is not a serious problem. The exterior panels are beautiful with crisp animation artwork front and back, full of color and life
and very impressive image clarity. Each looks like it could have been pulled from the show. There are some selectively metallic/reflective touches on
each panel to give the artwork life and individuality beyond the artwork. Silvers and blues are the dominant background colors across the collection
while each SteelBook offers its own color scheme for individual, book specific artwork elements. The spines are uniform across the set so as to match
in the case.
Each top includes the show's title in the same script and earthy color. Towards the bottom are the season, or "Book," titles in white blocky letters.
Blu-ray and Paramount logos appear at the bottom in the same earthy/bronze coloring. All of this is against a very dark gray/borderline black
background.
The SteelBook interiors all depict similar layout patterns depicting faintly visible, almost hazy or silhouetted images of statues or cityscapes in a
monochromatic color
scheme that reflects the exterior panel's unique tonal proclivities. The Blu-ray discs, two per set, are staggered-stacked on the right-hand side. The
discs are a rather plain, solid blue color with the title, logos, and a little more appearing about the surface. Boring, but the rest of the presentation is
striking.
No DVD or digital copies are included with purchase.

Fans should be thrilled with this collection. While there's no reason to upgrade if one's only concern is the on-disc content -- which is identical to the older releases from years ago -- the SteelBook presentation is beautiful. The outer box looks great and features some impressive debossing work. The box is a bit too flimsy, but it should hold up to basic usage. The SteelBooks themselves are gorgeous. The outside artwork in particular is vibrant and crisp. Highly recommended.
