The Last Showgirl Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Neil Lumbard December 10, 2025

The Last Showgirl is a beautiful and heartfelt character-study exploring the era of the showgirl. The film features a stunning performance by Pamela Anderson. A must-see gem.

Shelly (Pamela Anderson) is the showgirl with the longest history in the show. Shelly now must come to terms with her show ending after a successful 30-year run. Can Shelly continue to be a showgirl or has time come to move on?

Pamela Anderson delivers a remarkable performance. The supporting cast of characters includes Mary-Anne (Brenda Song), Jodie (Kiernan Shipka), Eddie (Dave Bautista), Annette (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Hannah (Billie Lourd). The supporting cast deliver excellent performances, too. A well- rounded ensemble. Anderson is especially notable with a lot expected of her in the leading role. A quietly profound performance by Anderson and one that should not be missed.

Composed by Andrew Wyatt (Barbie), The Last Showgirl features a solid soundtrack. The score is certainly a compelling part of the production. The music plays a big role in the storytelling. An important aspect of the filmmaking and it works wonders in the film.

The cinematography by Autumn Durald Arkapaw (Sinners, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) is hypnotic and poetic. The lush and visually creative cinematographic style is one of the highlights of the feature. The style is profoundly beautiful and complex. There are so many incredible visuals in The Last Showgirl and the cinematographer brought out the best in the production.

Edited by Blair McClendon (Aftersun, The Assistant) and Cam McLauchlin (Nightmare Alley, Teen Spirit), The Last Showgirl is well edited. The editing is well paced and flows well throughout. There is a sense throughout the film of the editing being pitch-perfect for the showstopping spectacle. There is much throughout to cherish.

The production designs by Natalie Ziering (The Seven Faces of Jane) are well-done. The designs add to the aesthetic. The designs help to bring forth the best in the film and showcase the visual spunk of the filmmaking team. The art direction by Nicholas Faiella and Lisa Medina is similarly impressive and adds a lot to the production. The set decoration by Nicholas Faiella is well-done, too.

The costume designs by Jacqueline Getty (The Darjeeling Limited) and Rainy Jacobs (Chloe Cherry Likes Her Men Like Her Tea) are incredible. The costumes are some of the best of the year. The designs are fantastic throughout and are perfect for Pamela Anderson and the supporting cast of characters, too.

Written by Kate Gersten (Mozart in the Jungle, Schmigadoon!), The Last Showgirl is a beautiful story. The heartfelt story is one that audiences will respond well to. The story is one of ambition and passion – the love of being a showgirl is something that carries the story forward. For Shelly, being a showgirl isn’t simply about the glamour or the clothes – it’s an art form for her and it is something she holds dear. There is a sense of it being her pride and joy – of both her career and life.

Directed by Gia Coppola (Palo Alto, Mainstream), The Last Showgirl is a poetic and moving film. The filmmaking is gorgeous throughout. There is a sense of passion behind the camera. The filmmaking manages to bring out the best in the entire ensemble cast. Director Coppola works well alongside Anderson, making sure that she is the central figure of the narrative. The Last Showgirl is a must-see instant-classic.
