The Irrefutable Truth About Demons is a mediocre horror-thriller. Produced by Dave Gibson (The Insiders Guide to Happiness, Holly’s Heroes). Starring Karl Urban and Katie Wolfe.
Harry Ballard (Karl Urban) is an anthropology professor who spends his time debunking the occult and occult phenomenon. Things take a dark turn when a mysterious videotape arrives from a cult known simply as The Black Lodge. The cult claims to reveal a demonic conspiracy. Now Harry is being chased down from the cult and while he investigates the case his life is at risk at every turn of the story. Can Harry survive the cult and prove all occults are simply people doing bad things?
Karl Urban offers one of the few redeeming qualities of the film. Urban is a talented actor and his screen presence is apparent even in this low- budget horror film. Urban does a good job in the film and is not at fault for the mediocre filmmaking. Co-star Katie Wolfe delivers a less pleasing performance with an over the top performance that doesn’t mesh well with Urban.

Composed by Victoria Kelly (Black Sheep, Fracture) and Joost Langeveld (Snake Skin, Toy Love), The Irrefutable Truth About Demons features an average score. The music doesn’t add much to the production. The score is lackluster and fails to make much of an impression.
The cinematography by Simon Baumfield (Fresh Meat, Street Legal) is unimaginative and fails to have much visual finesse. The cinematography looks bleak and subdued without any real creativity and it certainly doesn’t make the film stand out in any meaningful way. A mediocre cinematographic effort all around.
Edited by Paul Sutorius (Ruby and Rata, White Lies), The Irrefutable Truth About Demons is a lackluster edit. The pace and rhythm of the film feels underwhelming. Even at a short run time, The Irrefutable Truth About Demons feels overlong. The editing could have been a lot tighter.
The production designs by Clive Memmott (Via Satellite) are unimpressive and fail to help the film out of its own rut. The designs are lackluster across the board. The results are certainly dire.
The costume designs by Francis Hooper and Denise L'Estrange-Corbet are mediocre, too. The costumes feel poorly thought out and not essential to the characters or story. The designs are simply average costumes for a horror production.
Written and directed by Glenn Standring (Perfect Creature), The Irrefutable Truth About Demons is a mess. The filmmaking is underwhelming and the directorial vision is chaotic. The pace and flow are terrible. The director certainly seemed to be on autopilot with this underwhelming effort. What a lackluster film – neither offering scares or tension.

Released on Blu-ray by Umbrella Entertainment, The Irrefutable Truth About Demons is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 widescreen. The transfer is average and somewhat mediocre looking. The scan looks a bit dated and the transfer isn't that pristine when it comes to color reproduction and detail. The image could look better with a newer restoration.

The release is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. The 5.1 surround sound track is active and engaging. The release benefits from the lossless audio encoding. The high-resolution audio allows for the score and sound effects to make a solid impression. A well-done lossless presentation.
