The Hentai Prince & the Stony Cat: Complete Collection Blu-ray Movie Review
A fun anime for comedy fans.
Reviewed by Neil Lumbard July 20, 2022
The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is a comedy anime with plenty of hijinks in store for audiences. The series is produced by
Harutoshi Saito, Kentarō Iwasa, Masahiro Takahashi, Shinobu Yoshinuma, and Toyota Todoroki. Based on the light novels by Sou Sagara, The
Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is full of surprises. The series features animation produced by J.C. Staff (Aria the Scarlet Ammo,
A Certain Magical Index). The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is well worth checking out for anime comedy aficionados.
School days collide with hormones when Yoto finds himself delving down a rabbit hole of perversion. As Yoto finds himself surrounded by
beautiful gals, Yoto finds his emotional state is one that prevents him from having normal interactions (and he suffers from nosebleeds). Tsukiko,
meanwhile, lets her own pervert flag fly as she explores her behavior as she sees fit: shouting out her every thought.
The two students find themselves in an unexpected situation when each learns of a special magical cat with unique abilities. The cat can
remove one personality quirk from each individual and pass it along to someone else instead! While the idea of removing a trait sounded great (in
theory), in execution the issue caused even more dilemmas! Now Yoto blurts out every sexual thought while Tsukiko becomes cold and emotionless.
Can the two reverse this magical scenario?
The series benefits from impressive animation. One of the central components of the series is the fun animation style. The art direction by
Nobuaki Mihara (Blue Reflection Ray, Battle Girl High School) is excellent and brings something unique to the table. The
team of animators involved on the series manage to bring forth a lot to the production and the style the series exudes. The anime character
designs by Haruko Iizuka (Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions, Children of the Whales) are equally impressive
and seem well-suited to the cast of characters.
The series isn’t particularly focused on action scenes or the like (as that is not the central focus of the production). The emphasis is on
the comedy. As with most comedy series, animated or otherwise (anime included) comedy is highly subjective. While it can’t come close a
comedy masterpiece as blissful as Spaced or the like, The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is a reasonably entertaining
series which should be appealing to a specific fan-base within the anime community.

"Kon'nichiwa."
The score composed by Tomoki Kikuya (Cat Planet Cuties, The Girl Who Leapt Through Space) adds some charm and
lighthearted delight to the production. The score is an enjoyable backdrop to The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat and brings out some of the
comedic sensibilities of the production.
Featuring cinematography by Atsushi Satō (Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon, The Greatest Demon Lord is
Reborn as a Typical Nobody), The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is a beautiful looking animated series. The production has nice
cinematography with a strong use of vibrant colors. A impressive element on display in every regard, The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is
full of solid cinematography to enhance the comedy of the series.
Written by Michiko Itou (Bodacious Space Pirates, Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions), The Hentai Prince
and Stony Cat is a silly and over-the-top anime series at times (mixed with a more somber – bittersweet even – tone). The series
has a better concept than expected and is a reasonably fun animated excursion. The comedic hijinks are over the top.
Directed by Youhei Suzuki (Aki no Kanade, Million Arthur), The Hentai Prince and Stony Cat is a
compelling example of anime comedies done right. While not a knockout success, the series is reasonably entertaining and has a decent concept and
execution. The series will appeal most to dedicated fans of comedy anime.

The release is presented in Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo (with English subtitles). The release has superb sounding audio dynamics.
The sound quality on the release preserves a nice soundstage. The audio quality is top-notch and manages to highlight the Japanese dialogue.
Unfortunately, the release lacks an English dub option and only the original Japanese track is provided. However, sub-fans will be enormously
