Paramount has again released 'The Godfather' trilogy to Blu-ray, now with the first two films remastered. This release, in celebration of the first film's 50th anniversary, appears alongside the franchise's UHD debut set (as well as the larger boxed set). This four-disc Blu-ray set is quite different from the UHD set: packaging is different but the largest difference is the absence of the original cut of 'The Godfather, Part III' (the UHD disc included two cuts, actually). That film in either of its "original" forms is gone, replaced here with the superior 'The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone cut, which was first released to Blu-ray in 2020; the disc included in this set for that film is identical to its 2020 Blu-ray release disc.

This set ships with all four discs in a basic Amaray style case, unlike the UHD set in which each film shipped in its own Digipak-style package. The
Amaray case ships inside a form-fitting and embossed slip box. Both share identical front cover art but the Blu-ray case offers the usual info cluster
on the rear (billing block, bonus features, etc). The packaging is very simple and nondescript.
Disc four in this set is a "bonus disc" which is identical to that found in the UHD set and includes a blend of both new and preexisting supplements.
New Features:

While these discs cannot match the majesty the UHD set discs offer, Blu-ray only fans are going to find a wonderful new presentation of one of cinema's most treasured trilogies. This set earns my highest recommendation.
