Universal and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the legendary 1980s John Hughes film 'The Breakfast Club.' The disc content is identical to the newer 2015 release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

The SteelBook is of predominantly yellow coloring. It's in the design of a locker (not the first Blu-ray collectible to be distributed in locker packaging) and even features
some slight embossing features on the three "vents" at the top and the lock on the right while the outline where the locker would open has been
slightly embossed (sadly there's no texture to the two hinges). The locker is scuffed here and there while various drawings appear around it: a "dead
face," a crown, a math problem, a trophy, and Judd Nelson's John Bender raising his fist in the air, one of the film's most iconic moments. The title is
literally stamped on the front in red at an angle; some of the paint drips down from the bottom edge. The rear panel carries over the same basic
design. There's no embossing or debossing work, sadly, even on the name plate Universal badge at the bottom. There are three scrawls: a hangman, a
bulldog, and the letter "S." The spine brings more yellow with the film's title in that red paint color running down the spine. A model number and
Universal
logo appear at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The single Blu-ray disc appears on the right. The inner print is rather nifty. It
looks like the locker has been opened. The left side retains the yellow color (and even carries over those three vents). A few photos (i.e. movie stills)
have been taped (and gummed) on the bottom half. The right offers a look inside the locker. There are some books and notebooks in a row, a bagged
lunch,
and a baseball glove. Pretty cool stuff.

The Breakfast Club is a total 80s classic that's earned a pretty sweet Blu-ray SteelBook. It's a shame Universal didn't take the opportunity to release the film on the UHD format. Maybe next time. Highly recommended.
