Universal has re-released the cult sensation 1998 film 'The Big Lebowski,' directed by Joel and Ethan Cohen and starring Jeff Bridges and John Goodman, to the UHD format, now in SteelBook packaging. Beyond new extremal disc artwork, there appears to be no discernible difference between this UHD disc and the first UHD issue, which Universal released in 2018. Additionally, the Blu-ray includes new disc artwork but is otherwise the same dated release from 2011. Note that Universal has also released the film day-and-date with this release in a boxed set with extra swag; that swag is not included here.

Universal's UHD SteelBook release of The Big Lebowski offers matte front and rear panels. The front and rear feature an "Art Deco" style,
dominated by an image of a bowling ball rolling down the lane and, above, the film's title with The Due as the silhouette forming the letter "I" in
"Big."
The "I" in "Lebowski" is a lit cigar. A teal-colored background with a diamond pattern dominates the top portion. The rear panel features a similar
background with the bottom third or so a blank, creamy colored surface with what
looks like a cup with a White Russian in it, or a blender holding the drink (it's difficult to tell exactly). The spine is a pale black with the film's title
center
and a red
Universal logo at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a classic still from the film depicting Dude, Donny, and Walter seated
at a bar with the sprawling bowling alley in the background.

It's nice to finally have The Big Lebowski on UHD SteelBook, and a nice looking SteelBook at that. The UHD is the same as previously released, and one can't complain about that. Recommended.
