The Avengers 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman August 19, 2018
Disney, in conjunction with Best Buy, has released an exclusive SteelBook packaging variant for the highly anticipated 4K UHD release of 'The
Avengers.' The two-disc set includes the same content as the wide release: the 4K/HDR/Dolby Atmos UHD disc, the previously released
Blu-ray,
and a Movies Anywhere digital copy code. See the Special Features and Extras section below for more on the SteelBook presentation.

The Avengers 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

The Avengers' SteelBook is a little out of left field. Rather than a more artistically inclined pursuit for the front cover, something that doesn't
look like
any old off-the-shelf character collage, Best Buy's SteelBook delivers...a character collage. The background is predominantly blue with a large Avengers
"A" centered and the film's title (and Marvel Studios markings) appearing towards the bottom of the symbol. There's some good embossing/debossing
work in
play as well; the "A" logo is sunken a bit below the rest of the front while the film's title is raised, not necessarily raised above the perimeter but raised
above the debossed logo back to sea level, so to speak. The characters encircle the logo, as much a they can encircle it on a rectangular platform.
Clockwise from top-center is Iron
Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Thor. The rear cover carries over the predominantly blue color scheme and
presents an image of The Tesseract. The spine is simple, with more wrap of the blue color scheme and the film's logo in relatively small, centered print.
A nearly microscopic 4K logo can be seen at the bottom and a Marvel Studio's logo appears in fine print at the top.
Inside, buyers will find the digital copy voucher tucked under the left hand side tabs. The Blu-ray and UHD discs are staggered-stacked on the right
hand side. The inner print depicts Iron Man across both folds, his head prominently featured in the open area (assuming the digital copy leaflet is
removed) and laser blasts shooting towards something out of frame. It's a fairly simple SteelBook, not the most attractive on the market and definitely
not as nice as the previous Best Buy exclusive Blu-ray SteelBook which released earlier this year with
unique
artwork courtesy of Matt Ferguson.

The Avengers 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

The Avengers' UHD offers top-flight picture and flawed but largely enjoyable audio. The Best Buy exclusive SteelBook delivers a decent
presentation. It's not a standout by any means, and the character collage presentation doesn't really distinguish it from basic release type of artwork,
but fans of the popular packaging option should find no major negatives when deciding whether to add it to the collection.
