The seventh outing in the classic slasher horror franchise sees the return of chainsaw-wielding killer Leatherface. Alexandra Daddario stars as Heather, a young woman who travels to Texas with her boyfriend Ryan (Trey Songz) and two other friends to collect a family inheritance. On arrival, the friends realise to their horror that Heather's legacy includes the unwanted attentions of crazed murderer Leatherface (Dan Yeager) and his cannibalistic clan. The film features a cameo appearance from Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in the original 1974 film.

Lionsgate is once again partnering with Walmart to provide collectors with a set of SteelBook releases, this time with several linked "Bloody Disgusting" titles. All of the SteelBooks have similar designs that feature an emphasis on blacks, which may mean that white gloves may be in order for fingerprint and/or other smudge protection.

On disc supplements are detailed in the above linked review. This particular SteelBook continues with the overall black look that adorns all of the day and date Bloody Disgusting releases, but this one is accented in a kind of interesting gold-orange adjacent tone. The front panel offers a spooky, almost subliminal, skull along with a veritable damsel in distress. The back panel follows the branding choice of all these Bloody Disgusting SteelBooks by offering a quote. The interior panels feature a photograph of a certain chainsaw wielding character. A digital copy is included. All of these similarly branded SteelBooks have a J card.
As perhaps indicated by the overall score I gave this film when it first came out, I wasn't especially excited or even entertained by it. That said, this kind of branded packaging may appeal to collectors who couldn't care less about the actual movie, and in that regard this particular SteelBook will make a handsome sibling to the other Bloody Disgusting releases coming out simultaneously with this one.
