Teen Titans: The Complete Series Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Neil Lumbard May 19, 2020

Before the rebooted Teen Titans Go! arrived at Cartoon Network (with the same voice-actors in tow), the original Teen Titans DC animated series from 2003 made a big splash with fans of the beloved DC animated universe. The teenage superheroes Robin (Scott Menville), Beast Boy (Greg Cipes), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Cyborg (Khary Payton), and Raven (Tara Strong) work together to fight crime and defeat evil villains from around the world: including their diabolical nemesis, Slade (Ron Perlman). When there's trouble, you know who to call...

Balancing out their heroic superhero lives, the Teen Titans hang out in their tower and play video games, watch movies, listen to music, and do other ordinary things that most normal teenagers do. The original Teen Titans DC comics created by Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani helped to inspire the action-packed animated hit and it was developed for television by David Slack. A heroic animated hit that is sure to entertain DC fans of all ages, Teen Titans is a must-see series.

Teen Titans: The Complete Series Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

As a teenager, I grew up watching Teen Titans as it aired on television. The series was one of my favorites and one that I eagerly anticipated each week as new episodes were released. The animation always blew me away and I loved the cast of characters : the voice-actors are terrific in each of their respective roles. Sometimes revisiting a television favorite from youth can lead to disappointment as one realizes that nostalgia might actually have clouded their memories. Thankfully, Teen Titans legitimately stands the test of time.

Action-packed, beautifully animated, and featuring one of the coolest opening theme songs ever produced (performed by Puffy AmiYumi), the series is a DC animated universe powerhouse which manages to be entertaining throughout all five seasons (and the feature film). The series is easily re-watchable and experiencing it in high-definition on Blu-ray is almost like experiencing the series for the first time. The animation has truly never looked better than it does on these wonderful discs. Warner Bros has knocked it out of the park with this superb collection. A fantastic release that belongs on the shelf of any true believer in the DCAU. Highly recommended.
