Heart and Yummie - Tatsuya Miyanishi Theatre is a television series with a lot of wonderful elements for fans of the anime franchise. Produced by Shinsaku Hatta (Aria - The Natural, Glass Mask) and Yasumichi Ozaki (Heart and Yummie, Virtua Fighter), Heart and Yummie - Tatsuya Miyanishi Theatre is an engaging adaptation of the original source material created by Tatsuya Miyanishi. The animation is produced by Ajiado (Ascendance of a Bookworm, Fist of the North Star: Strawberry Flavor) and KID'S. The series has plenty to offer audiences of all ages.
Reiko Hori is the narrator of the Heart and Yummie television tale. Enjoy a series of heartwarming and simple children’s tales adapted from the children’s novels. The short novels have been adapted with short form animation. The series explores four picture- books, adapting the tales for children and bringing new and exciting dinosaur exploration stories to the table as the young dinosaurs learn about life in the outdoors and what it means to be a growing dino!
A charming and fun children’s series appropriate for all ages. Each short-form animated television episode (each episode running a few minutes in length) brings new sweet dino scenery and the heartstrings of viewers will never be the same! For the dino fan in everyone. Dino roar!
The character designs by Yoshiaki Yanagida (Genshiken, Magic Tree House) are beautiful and engaging. The television series has a unique art style compared to the feature-films. Unlike the feature-films (in traditional anime style), the series has the aesthetic of a children’s book – the aesthetic is different. Character designs are different as a result. The simple and charming designs work well for the TV production.

The chief animation direction by Yoshiaki Yanagida (Kaiketsu Zorori, Kimagure Orange Road) adds to the charm of the television series. The animation is colorful and heartwarming. There is so much vibrancy apparent in the production. The storybook style of animation is superb here and it pulls at the heart strings.
The score composed by Etsuko Matsui (Asura) is charming and brimming with creativity. The score is an elegant and serene backdrop to the short-form television fables. The music is something calming and engaging to listen to. The score fits the tone of the series well.
Written by Hiroaki Jinno (Heart and Yummie, Nintama Rantaro) and Osamu Murakami (Heart and Yummie), Heart and Yummie - Tatsuya Miyanishi Theatre has a different approach compared to the feature-films. The television series explores the characters with a short-form format and the storytelling is quite a bit different as a result. The stories are told with simple narration and in the manner of children’s books. The writing is engaging and entertaining.
Directed by Masaharu Takizawa and Masaya Fujimori (Heart and Yummie, Izetta: The Last Witch), Heart and Yummie - Tatsuya Miyanishi Theatre is worth seeing for fans of the franchise. The television series certainly has some nice short form episodes to entertain audiences with a charming story-time vibe. Worthwhile for dino fans.

Released on Blu-ray from Discotek Media, the Heart and Yummie television series (Tatsuya Miyanishi Theatre) is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The animation is well reproduced on the release. The colorful and vibrant art style looks great here and there is a lot of fine detail in the animation that is well reproduced through the high- quality encoding by Discotek Media.

The release includes a lossless audio option: Japanese uncompressed PCM 2.0 stereo (with English subtitles). The release does not provide an English dubbed option for the television series. The presentation is superb on the release. The lossless encoding capably handles the narration.
