Released alongside the separate standard 4K and Blu-ray editions, Warner Bros. also offers a Steelbook combo pack of James Gunn's Superman. Assuming you can find a copy, the obvious benefits include deluxe packaging and having both formats in one handy package, but otherwise all on-disc contents are identical to their respective discs.

NOTE: These screenshots are sourced from the included Blu-ray disc.
For separate coverage of the 2160p/HDR10/Dolby Vision and 1080p/SDR transfers, please see my recent reviews of the standard 4K and Blu-ray editions. In short, both are very good efforts for their respective formats.

For details about the great Dolby Atmos audio (identical on both discs), please see my 4K review.

As seen above, this release ships in Steelbook packaging with a clear outer slipcover that, when removed, reveals Superman and Krypto leaving the Fortress of Solitude. It's a nice effect, though it doesn't quite achieve the immediate "wow" factor of these kinds of designs when they're layered more efficiently. The back cover continues the massive wall of ice surrounding it, while the interior image keeps things chilly with a zoomed-in (and slightly more realistic) depiction of Supes exiting the structure while both discs sit on overlapping hubs on the right side. Overall, this is a pretty cool (pun intended) and fairly original effort, if not a little samey, but I still think fans are going to love it.
The extras are a noticeable step above most WB blockbuster releases and collectively almost approach the DVD Special Editions of yesteryear. A courtesy list is provided below... but for more details, see my review of the 4K edition.
NOTE: As with several other recent WB A-list titles, an audio commentary is included during the main feature, this one featuring writer/director James Gunn. There's a catch, though: it's exclusive to the Digital Copy, which remains one of the absolute worst home video trends in recent years. Thumbs down to WB for continuing to do this.

James Gunn's Superman was one of this year's most talked-about films, which is another way of saying it divided audiences for a variety of reasons. Keeping things entirely on-screen, it has trouble building first-half momentum and there were several things I didn't like about its approach to the subject matter, but Superman eventually finds its legs and lays the foundation for what I hope can be more consistently satisfying follow-ups. Warner Bros.' Steelbook combo pack includes both of the otherwise separate 4K and Blu-ray editions and pretty nice packaging to boot, making it the clear choice for die-hard fans and collectors. If you're interested, grab it now while you still can.
