The final chapter in the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a reasonably satisfactory (if imperfect) conclusion to the beloved series. Rey (Daisy Ridley) returns to fight the evil of the Sith. Determined to help save the galaxy from The First Order, Rey uses her force powers to help fight for everyone the galaxy over. Can Rey defeat Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)? Is she really a “nobody” as was said in Star Wars: The Last Jedi or is there more to her lineage? Can John Williams ever write a bad score? (Of course not.)
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker answers those questions (and more) while taking fans on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with future and past interspersed as one. Director J.J. Abrams (Super 8, Mission Impossible 3) misses a few notes (which could perhaps be fixed with a extended directors cut) but delivers outstanding action and undeniable spectacle. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the weakest link in the new sequel Star Wars trilogy but an entertaining experience nonetheless and one that no fan can miss.
"No deleted scenes?"

Arriving on 3D Blu-ray with a 1080p MPEG-4 MVC high definition presentation, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brings the episodic Star Wars series to a fantastic close with style. The 3D presentation is unquestionably the best way to experience the action-packed film and a must-own on home media for those equipped to view it in the format. Having seen the film theatrically in Dolby Cinema with 4K projection, I even preferred the 3D disc to the cinema experience.
The 3D in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is arguably the best in the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy and has many jaw-dropping visuals to floor audiences with. The action scenes are so much more engaging, exciting, and mind-blowing to see with another dimension. There are many fantastic visual effects sequences which are meticulously rendered in 3D with each element of the production design on full display.
From the epic sets to the outstanding visual effects of the ships and creatures, the 3D is an amazing experience to have and to share with others. The scope of the film feels much larger when it is viewed in 3D and it pulls one into the filmmaking with ease. The 3D effect adds a remarkable layer of depth to the picture that is downright astonishing. When viewed on the fantastic OLED65E6P, the spectacle was so much more rewarding. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arrives on 3D Blu-ray with a spectacular, reference quality presentation. A must-see in 3D.
The 3D release includes a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio presentation. Though the release does not contain a Dolby Atmos mix, fans shouldn't fret: the 24 bit lossless high-resolution track is truly spectacular and a perfect match to the visual experience.

Having grown up a life-long Star Wars fan, I wasn't sure if the final entry in the saga would be able to meet all of my (admittedly) high expectations. How could it with so many memories and beloved films in the saga? Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might not be a perfect film which checks every box perfectly (and it certainly has some scenes which try and re-route The Last Jedi to my disdain), but J.J. Abrams and co have fun with the universe and story in a way that is heartfelt and true to the roots of the series. Though the film could use an extended directors cut, the 3D presentation is so spectacular that it makes the film that much more thrilling than it is when viewed in any other presentation option. The 3D in The Rise of Skywalker soars and this is a reference disc that belongs on the shelf of every 3D aficionado. A must-own release.
