Paramount has released a four-film, eight-disc remastered Blu-ray/UHD collection of the first four original crew 'Star Trek' films. New specifications include 2160p/Dolby Vision video. The studio has simply ported over the existing soundtracks and supplements from the 2009 six-film set. See below for links to reviews of both the remastered Blu-ray discs and the new UHD presentations. Note that at time of writing the remastered Blu-ray discs are available individually but the UHDs are exclusive to this collection.

All of the soundtracks are recycled from the 2009 Blu-ray boxed set release. Please click here for full coverage.
Note that there is nothing particularly special about the packaging. The UHD and Blu-ray discs ships inside a standard quality slip box. Blu-ray and
UHD discs are packaged in their own four-disc Amaray cases with practically identical artwork.

Perhaps -- hopefully -- Paramount will see fit to release The Final Frontier and The Undiscovered Country to the UHD format at some point in the near future, along with the Next Generation films for that matter. Who knows, maybe the studio is planning a ten-film (or maybe 13-film, adding the "Kelvin" films for good measure) collection for the near future. As it stands, this is a solid collection in terms of the new UHD video presentations; the first film fares the best, followed by The Wrath of Khan, then The Voyage Home, with The Search for Spock bringing up the rear, but fans will be delighted with all of the above, some just a bit more so than others. While audio and supplements are unchanged, they are of high quality across the four-film board. Very highly recommended!
