Spectre Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman March 28, 2020
MGM and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the 24th James Bond film, 'Spectre.' The disc and digital content
is
identical to that found in the wide release. Note that there is also a UHD SteelBook available. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the
review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Spectre Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Spectre's SteelBook thrives on simplicity. The front and rear panels are of a matte black color that will not display fingerprints. The film's title
runs across the front, slightly above the midline, in white. Immediately behind the letter "C" is a bullet hole. The look of damaged glass runs out
around it, but not extending too far away from a centralized area. The familiar "007" logo, with the "7" a handgun's grip, appears below. The rear side
displays nothing but the exit hole for the bullet, again with the broken glass look around it. Studio logos and some legalese appear bottom left. The
spine is also a flat black with the film's title appearing center in white (no bullet hole). MGM and 007 logos have been placed at the top. A Blu-ray disc
logo may be found at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The lone Blu-ray disc appears on a hub on the right-hand side. The inner
print is very minimalist, offering what amounts to a blank gray slate with large "007" text at the bottom, only the top half or so of which is visible.
There is a bit missing from the sides, too.

Spectre Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Minimalist SteelBook fans will delight in Spectre. It's quite attractive to this reviewer's eyes and nicer in terms of both look and texture
compared to the counterpart UHD SteelBook (linked above), but of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Blu-ray video and audio
presentations are, of course, world class for that format. Recommended.
