Sony has released a boxed set featuring 11 of its most cherished films from the 'Sony Pictures Classics' imprint for the first time on UHD. Most have been released previously on Blu-ray, but two have not. See below for a list of all included films. New specifications for each film include 2160p/Dolby Vision video. Some films feature new audio encodes. Some films include new extras, while just about all legacy supplements carry over. No Blu-ray discs are included. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for a few words on the box itself.

Sony Pictures Classics: 30th Anniversary Collection 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

The box measure approximately 7" high, 5.75" wide, and 6.5" deep. It is silver top and bottom with film artwork appearing horizontally, center, along three sides. One side features art for all eleven films with a blue square housing the "30 Years: Sony Pictures Classics" emblem center. This emblem appears bottom middle on two other sides. The elegant box folds open from the top down on each side to reveal all eleven films stacked side-by-side, each with a non-embossed slipcover that match for the blue spine color, a small photo at the top, and the film title center in white. Also included is a full color booklet that includes an introductory paragraph about this collection, plot synopses for all eleven films, an essay by David Thomson, and full-page explorations for each film which include a large photo, awards won, cast and crew notices, and additional writing on each film. At the end is a complete listing of all the films that comprise the entirety of the Sony Pictures Classics line.

Sony Pictures Classics: 30th Anniversary Collection 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

This is an elegant and classic boxed set. It's pricey, and the films are wildly eclectic and cover a broad spectrum of styles and moods, but for film lovers few match this for sheer excellence in every category, cinematically and technically as well considering the excellent UHD presentations. It's a must own for every serious film lover.
