Sonic Boom: The Complete Series Blu-ray Movie Review

NCircle Entertainment has widely released a six-disc SteelBook packaging variant for both seasons of the hit animated TV series 'Sonic Boom,' based on the longtime popular video game franchise. The disc content is identical to that found in the individual seasons one and two wide releases, currently only otherwise available individually. Sonic Boom: The Complete Series Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

NCircle Entertainment has released both seasons, and all six discs, of Sonic Boom into one SteelBook package. The individual seasons were originally released in May and September of 2021; this comes only months following the final season two release. The package includes a clear plastic slipcover with the show's title top in big, playful, but bold yellow and orange colors. A blue banner with orange text runs vertically along the top right corner announcing that this is a complete series set. The spines feature small white bottom tabs which include NCircle and Blu-ray logos, a model number, and the text "6-Disc Set." The rear panel includes the usual plot burb, large character images, special features listings, tech specs, studio logos, and the like.

The SteelBook features a colorful character action collage on the front. There is a metallic reflectivity to parts of the image. Sonic is front-and-center, leaping in the air, giving a thumbs-up. Other key characters including Eggman, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks appear on the frame. A green plain is below them, and a sky is behind and above them. Boomerangs are flying through the space bottom right; no doubt these would be popping out if the panel could in some way be 3-D. The rear panel is less busy. Sonic stands along the left, arms folded across his chest. Tails, Knuckles, Sticks, and Amy appear in small boxes to his right. A white background with some basic blue-ink terrain appears behind them. The spine features Sonic's picture at the top, the series' title next, an Eggman portrait below that, and NCircle and Blu-ray logos at the bottom.

Inside, the three season one discs are stacked directly one atop the other on the left and the same configuration houses the three season two discs on the right. The inner print is a two-panel spread that focuses on Dr. Eggman and some of his nefarious creations.

Sonic Boom: The Complete Series Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

What a fun SteelBook! It is colorful, diverse in presentation and focus, and includes an additional Slipcover. The show is good and the Blu-rays look and sound good, too. It's a shame there are not more extras, but this set nevertheless earns a hearty recommendation.
