Overview

Snatch 4K (2000)

When a dizzying robbery takes place in the Orthodox Jewish diamond district, a flawless 86-carat gem, the size of an infant's fist, is lifted in the snatch. Taking it to London, the diamond's thief and courier, Franky Four Fingers arrives in the city as a stopover en route to New York to deliver the huge diamond to his bigwig crime boss, Avi. But because Franky can't resist temptation and London is a town with its share of illegal trade, a small crowd of miscreants and malefactors eventually ends up chasing each other and the whereabouts of the diamond. These include: Doug the Head, a jeweler who pretends he's Jewish because it's good for business; Boris the Blade, a Russian gangster with a deserved reputation for being impossible to kill; Bullet Tooth Tony, a legendary hard guy and Brick Top, perhaps the scariest of the lot.

Starring: Benicio del Toro, Dennis Farina, Vinnie Jones, Brad Pitt, Rade Serbedzija
Director: Guy Ritchie

Snatch 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman July 18, 2021

Sony and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for Director Guy Ritchie's 2000 fan favorite film 'Snatch.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Snatch 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  2.5 of 5

Sony's Snatch SteelBook is matte and will not display handling fingerprints. The front panel depicts a boxing ring with a dark blue mat, a red rope flanked by two white ones, and a gold colored background. There's a boxer in blue trunks and red shoes falling backwards. He's practically parallel with the mat. Blood and spittle are flying from his mouth. The film's title is scrawled in black letters, outlined in red, top center, at a slight diagonal. The rear panel simply continues the image, eventually reaching the ring's corner on the left-hand side where a red bar supports the three ropes. The spine follows with the illusion. The film's title appears as it does on the front above the center line.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features nothing beyond a metallic blue background.

Snatch 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

Sony's SteelBook is simple and attractive. It's interestingly designed, at least on the outside, a good balance of art and color. The inside is nonexistent, however. The film is great and the UHD presentation is top notch. Recommended.
