Skyfall Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman March 29, 2020
MGM and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the 2012 James Bond film 'Skyfall.' The disc and digital content is
identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below
for more on the SteelBook's look and feel. Note that a 4K UHD SteelBook is also now available.

Skyfall Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Skyfall's Blu-ray SteelBook is of a predominantly aqua color front and rear (panels which are also of the smooth, glossy, fingerprint displaying
variety). The front features several silhouette targets, each depicting James Bond, submerged in water. The most prominent and clearly visible appears
on the right where the outlines and scoring features, as well as Bond's face, are most apparent. It is also bleeding, leaving behind a watery trail of
submerged blood that shows the target to be sinking from the top. The film's title appears center but a bit below the midline in white lettering. The
familiar "007" logo, also in white, appears below. The rear panel is similarly designed but is darker in color, particularly off to the left where the
submerged targets are barely visible. The spine is a steady teal color. The film's title in white block letters appears center. White MGM and 007 logos
are at the top and a white Blu-ray logo has been placed at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The lone Blu-ray disc appears on a hub on the right-hand side. The inner
print is very minimalist, offering what amounts to a blank dark gray slate with large teal "007" text at the bottom, only the top half or so of which is
visible.
There is a bit missing from the sides, too.

Skyfall Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Subjectively speaking, of course, this is a much nicer SteelBook than the rather boring, but minimally effective, UHD version. One could simply trade
the UHD disc out but there's no room for the Blu-ray, which holds the supplemental content, so both it is. C'est la vie. Highly recommended.
