Released alongside standard 4K and Blu-ray editions, Warner Bros. also offers this enticing Steelbook combo pack of Ryan Coogler's Sinners, an electrifying if not slightly overcooked blend of historical drama and supernatural horror. On-disc content is of course identical to those wide releases, with the deciding factors here being collectable packaging as well as having both formats in one place. (Also availability, as word has it this one's already tough to find.)

NOTE: These screenshots are sourced from the Blu-ray edition, available separately and reviewed here.
For details about the separate 2160p/HDR10/Dolby Vision and 1080p/SDR transfers (both of which are excellent), again please refer to both wide-release reviews linked above.

This two-disc set ships in Steelbook packaging that features design elements totally separate from both the standard 4K and Blu-ray editions. Front and center we have Smoke (the one without the gold tooth) standing guard outside the juke joint with a Tommy gun, which didn't happen that way during the film but still looks pretty cool. There's a bit of tasteful debossing on the film's title too. The back cover is lined with sheets of the juke joint's corrugated steel siding, tinted blood-red to match the cover, while the interior spread features the twins striking a pose upon their return to Clarksdale. Both discs sit on overlapping hubs to the right. Overall, it's a decent enough packaging job.
The extras are identical to the wide-release versions (details at either link above) and are found on both discs.

Ryan Coogler's Sinners is a personal film for the director, but it's only half of an intimate one. Curiously mixing period drama and supernatural horror tied together by unforgettable music (which the director admits was partially inspired by Delta blues legend Howlin' Wolf and his raucous song "Wang Dang Doodle"), it takes a lot of risks and several of them pay off handsomely. The ones that don't keep it from certified "instant classic" territory, but there's so much to love and admire here that multiple viewings may smooth over some of Sinners' potentially rough edges. Warner Bros.' separate Blu-ray 4K, and of course this preferred Steelbook combo pack edition gives fans plenty of options, but either format serves up outstanding A/V merits and a thoughtful collection of bonus features. Highly Recommended.
