Director Mike P. Nelson's ('Wong Turn' (2021)) latest, 2025's 'Silent Night, Deadly Night' arrives on 4K UHD in this new SteelBook edition disc courtesy of Cineverse. The remake of the 1984 holiday horror classic stars Rohan Campbell ('Halloween Ends') as the troubled Billy Chapman, the Santa suited slayer, along side Ruby Modine (Shameless') in a feature that has little to do with the original film. Technical merits are solid enough for the bloody slice of holiday cheer, and on-disc supplemental materials are light. A slipcover and a Blu-ray disc are also included, but a Digital Code is not. For a discussion of this new SteelBook, please scroll down to the "Special Features and Extras" section.

The Silent Night, Deadly Night: Collector's Edition SteelBook 4K (2025) come with an attractive slipcover, just as their recent release of the
The Toxic Avenger SteelBook 4K (2023)
did. The slip is identical to that of the standard release with Billy in his Santa suit holding a bloody axe in the foreground, with Pamela
visible behind him just over his right shoulder. Next to her, the words "SANTA'S GONNA SLAY" are written on the wall in blood. The reverse of the slip
contains stills, a blurb about the film, and some rather extensive credits in a small white font. Removing the slipcover, we see the the glossy and
colorful SteelBook. The film's title in both white and red font resides at the top of the jet black cover. Below it is Billy's bloody axe. It's positioned
vertically and wrapped with a great many multi-color holiday lights that would normally be used for decorating a Christmas tree. All of the elements
of axe present with some sparkling metallic highlights. The back of the SteelBook features a solo image of Billy dressed in his trademark Santa suit.
Both the suit and the axe he holds are covered in blood. The backdrop for the image is dark, weathered, and similarly stained with boold. Copyright
information and a product number are found near the bottom center and the bottom right corner. The SteelBook's spine is black and the film's title is
centered and printed in red and white block letters. The words "A film by Mike P Nelson" are placed just before the title in smaller white letters, and
Cineverse's logo is found at the bottom.
Opening the SteelBook, the tabs on the left hold a slip promoting Screambox. On the right side, the 4K UHD disc and the Blu-ray disc are stagger-
stacked, each on its own hub, with the 4K UHD disc on top. Removing all of the contents reveals a two-panel image Billy and Pamela presumably
kissing, though his bloody axe is positioned in such a way as to block our view of the intimate act. The image is dominated by dramtic reds, blacks
and whites. It's a fitting overall design, with the cover leveraging some of the film's established iconography, and the interior image strongly hints at
and the relationship between Billy and Pamela. The reverse makes sense, but feels a bit uninspired compared to the other two. There are no
embossed or debossed elements. The SteelBook's glossy finish, while making the front cover gorgeous, will show fingerprints and all due care should
be used when handling the item.
This release includes only a very slight selection of on-disc extras that wouldn't even fill the smallest of stockings. They are only found on the Blu-ray
disc and are as below.

The original Silent Night, Deadly Night was a sleazy, nasty, bloody slice of fruitcake, which isn't going to be to everyone's taste, but for those who enjoy it as I do, they'll relish an annual piece. The new film, while bloody and boasting a greater overall body count than its predecessor, has a different different agenda, complete with a Billy who audiences won't feel as guilty rooting for, even if the film is a little cluttered with one storyline too many for it's roughly 90-minute runtime. Still, Rohan Campbell handled the action of the story well, and Ruby Modine's occasionally unhinged performance proves she's one to watch. Featuring some excellent practical effects and wisely choosing to cut its own path, there is some chatter about a potential sequel and the film's ending provides the perfect segue for such an eventuality. I'm hopeful it comes to pass. Until such time as a new installment arrives, viewers will have to content themselves with this film, and as the Silent Night, Deadly Night: Collector's Edition SteelBook 4K is the best available packaging option, it comes strongly recommended.
