'Shark Zone' is currently only available as part of a two-disc, eight-film 'Meg-A-Shark' collection from Echo Bridge. The set also includes 'Toxic Shark,' 'Shark in Venice,' 'Malibu Shark Attack,' 'Hammerhead,' 'Shark Attack,' 'Shark Attack 2,' and 'Shark Attack 3: Megalodon.'

The image is fairly heathy. Shark Zone was shot on film, and the image translates nicely to 1080p. Grain holds firm throughout, offering a pleasing complimentary layer that solidifies the image's textural qualities and filmic parameters. Details are fairly good, offering well-versed basics like skin, clothes, and environments with appropriate sharpness and clarity. Some underwater shots are a little bland, but given the movie's budget constraints it's difficult to complain too loudly. Colors are nicely balanced, enjoying good, healthy contrast. Black levels and skin tones are fine. A few speckles appear here and there but the image is not plagued by any serious source or compression maladies.

Shark Zone features a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack. This is a fairly shallow track, lacking volume and intensity at reference level. It's decent otherwise, featuring capable surround implementation, whether in underwater scenes, raging storms (that do lack power), or energetic music. Sound element clarity is OK. Dialogue is detailed nicely enough in the front-center location.

No extras are included.

Shark Zone is a slight bit better than the more recent string of genre films. It takes itself just seriously enough to find a modest feel for terror rather than so many of today's productions that are more concerned with a gimmick or two. Echo Bridge's Blu-ray is decent, offering solid picture and shallow audio. No extras are included. For genre fans only.
