Scream 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman April 11, 2022

Paramount and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the 2022 Horror 'requel' 'Scream.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release with the exception that, here, the Blu-ray is also included. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Scream 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  3.0 of 5

Paramount's glossy-smooth SteelBook will show handling fingerprints in its darker areas, which is much of the front and rear. The front panel presents a close-up of "Ghostface" looking to the left, the mask and black hood filling up the center and right parts of the panel. The whole mask is bathed in shadow; there is very little true white to see. The killer has a bloody knife raised in the left hand, and the blade is fully visible running almost vertically along the right-hand side. The film's title in white, with some red edge accents, appears bottom left. The rear panel again features Ghostface, this time more of a full body image, depicting the killer from about the hips up. The killer is facing right, looking straight on at the viewer. The same knife is held down at waist level. A bright light source is behind the killer with the beams extending outward. The bottom left and right corners feature studio logos and a little legalese.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features all of the main characters holding a Ghostface mask, suggesting that any of them might be the killer.

Scream 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

This is a cool SteelBook. Its focus is on Ghostface. It's dark, its foreboding, and even the inner panel is very nifty. The film is solid (though not as good as the original). The video and audio presentations are good, too, and a nice assortment of extras are included as well. Recommended.
