Scream 2 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman October 1, 2022

Paramount has widely released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the 1997 Horror sequel film 'Scream 2.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Scream 2 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  2.5 of 5

Paramount's glossy smooth SteelBook will show handling fingerprints in the black areas, which are prevalent. The front panel features Ghostface, knife in hand next to the face, hovering over a crowded movie theater where all of the patrons are wearing Ghostface masks. The film's title sits just below the midpoint, center, and in white, with a red "2" scrawled over it. The rear panel is similarly bleak in color. A bloody knife fills the bottom third. The top two-thirds feature scrawled dark green text which reads, "Hello, Sidney. Remember me?" Small studio logos and legalese appear in unobtrusive dark print at the bottom. The spine is black with the film's title center. A Paramount logo appears at the top and an UltraHD logo appears at the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The Blu-ray and UHD discs are situated on the right and on the left, each on a central hub. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features close-up black-and-white images of two girls; the one on the left is focused on the left eye, and the one on the right is focused on the right eye. The girl on the left has a brown eye, the girl on the right a blue eye, providing the only color within.

Scream 2 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

This is a pretty solid SteelBook. The front artwork is great, a creepy image fills the back rather than sit in a small center area, and the inner print has a classic Scream vibe to it. The film is solid and the new 2160p/Dolby Vision picture presentation is outstanding. Recommended.
