Overview

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 4K (2010)

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It's getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart's ass—and now is back in town—to the teenage distraction he's trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn't been easy. He soon discovers, however, that his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor. As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues' gallery from her past—from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman July 17, 2021

Universal has released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for Director Edgar Wright's 2010 film 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  4.5 of 5

Electricity courses through the Scott Pilgrim 4K SteelBook. The film's title appears in big bold pink letters, center, broken up by a burst of brilliant white and yellow exploding colors emanating from a center point of detonation. Scott stands bottom center, playing his guitar. The rear panel's background is similarly designed and colored but features a prominent close-up of Scott's red guitar, center, vertically oriented and filling much of the vertical length. A rather large Universal logo and some legalese appear bottom left in red color. The spine is white with the title, broken and of the same color from the front, center. A Universal logo has been placed at the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features Scott Pilgrim, left, holding a crinkled red Solo cup, and Ramona on the right, holding an unblemished Solo cup, gazing over at Scott.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is an aesthetically unique, flamboyant, loud, and surprisingly novel film that may not be for every taste but that does hit the audience with a barrage of content that is constantly both recycled and refreshed throughout. The UHD looks terrific and sounds even better. There are enough extras to keep fans busy for a day at least. The SteelBook makes a splash. Recommended.
