Down-and-out rock star Dewey Finn gets fired from his band, and he faces a mountain of debts and depression. He takes a job as a fourth grade substitute teacher at an uptight private school where his attitude and hijinx have a powerful effect on his students. There, he meets Zack, a 10-year-old guitar prodigy, who could help Dewey win a "battle of the bands" competition, which would solve his financial problems and put him back in the spotlight.

Paramount has widely released a Blu-ray SteelBook packaging variant for the fan favorite 2003 film 'School of Rock.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Paramount's SteelBook is glossy and will show some handling fingerprints. The front panel features Dewey on the front in a rock pose as if he's
aggressively strumming his electric guitar. He is standing center, facing forward, legs spread wide, right hand up n the air. The film's title appears
center. A handful of the students from the class appear around him from the eight o'clock to the three o'clock positions. The background is red with
black lightning bolts circling the characters and pointing to a center spot. The rear panel features the same red and black background. Center is a
crudely designed "coat of arms"
that includes things like an amp at the top, a skull and guitar in the crest in the middle, and the film's title in a banner along the bottom. The spine
carries over the black-and-red theme with the film's title center and the Paramount logo in white at the top.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The lone Blu-ray disc is situated on the right on a central hub. The inner print
is a two-panel spread that features Dewey standing in front of a chalkboard, right. The board, which fills almost the entirety of the left panel, features a
chalkboard littered with Rock genres, band names, and arrows. Dewey is pointing to "Hard Rock" with a pointer and has a very stern look on his face.

It's a shame that there's nothing more here than a repackaging, but chances are pretty decent that a UHD is on the way if Paramount's patterns are followed. As it is, the SteelBook is very nice and speaks well of the movie. The Blu-ray, though very old, still holds up as a good overall release. For packaging enthusiasts only.
