Rugrats Go Wild is a cross-over feature-film with characters from both Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys. Based on the original animated series produced by Nickelodeon Animation, the adventures in Rugrats Go Wild are even more thrilling for fans of the series. Don't miss out!
The feature explores a new adventure with Tommy Pickles (Elizabeth Daily), Chuckie (Christine Cavanaugh), Angelica Pickles (Cheryl Chase), and the other rugrats as the whole gang meets the Thornberry family in the outdoors: Debbie Thornberry (Danielle Harris), Marianne Thornberry (Jodi Carlisle), Eliza Thornberry (Lacey Chabert), and Donnie Thornberry (Flea). Joining in on the fun is the monkey Darwin (Tom Kane) and the dog Spike (Bruce Willis).
The third outing finds the characters in another new and exciting chapter. The journey of the Rugrats continues to be compelling fun. The addition of the Thornberry family to this outing makes this so much more enjoyable. The characters from both animated series are given moments to shine and audiences will be pleased with the balance given to the distinct animated programs.
The art direction by Barry Atkinson (Thumbelina, Secret of the Wings) is first-rate and finds some compelling new avenues to explore the characters. The tropical setting for Rugrats Go Wild is an interesting choice. The change in scenery is effective and makes the film all the more fun for the fanbase. Atkinson did terrific work in showcasing the animation.
"Get to work, slaves!"
The score composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (The Rugrats Movie, Hotel Transylvania) imbues the production with a sense of fun and whimsy as well. The music is playful with the concept and the execution is superb. Mothersbaugh is one of the top composers working on animated films. This original score is a charming and delightful excursion. Fans will be pleased.
The screenplay by Kate Boutilier (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys) remembers to have fun and let loose. The script focuses on the characters adventures first-and-foremost. Boutilier balances the separate series (giving adequate screen-time to both the Rugrats and Thornberrys). A charming screenplay with plenty of adventure.
Directed by John Eng (Duckman, Oh Yeah! Cartoons) and Norton Virgien (The Rugrats, The Rugrats Movie), Rugrats Go Wild is well crafted. The filmmaking is solid throughout the feaure-film. This is certainly a fun journey through the wild. Fans of either (or both) animated Nickelodeon series can expect to have a good time.
Arriving on Blu-ray from Paramount, Rugrats Go Wild is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.39:1 widescreen. Rugrats Go Wild expands upon the aspect ratio. The wider ratio gives the production a more compelling canvas for the team of animators to explore. The results are exceptional. The film has outstanding color and depth. The film presentation has a top- notch encode. A stunning new restoration.
The release is presented in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound in 24 bit high-resolution. The lossless audio quality is superb and makes the viewing experience much more enjoyable. The music has more "oomph" and clarity. The score sounds remarkably vivid. Dialogue is crisp and clear on the release. Sound effects are well integrated in to the exciting surround mix.

"We Go Up, We Go Down" (SD, 1:26)
