Fatboy Slim: Right Here, Right Now A Big Beach Boutique Celebration is a documentary exploring the epic DJ party held on Brighton Beach. The party was held in 2002 and was expected to see over 40,000 attendees. Instead, the party resulted in over a quarter of a million guests showing up to experience the free beach DJ party orchestrated by Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim.
The documentary explores the story of the outdoor concert and how it was put together the ins and outs of the concert development and orchestration. The documentary delves into the epic history of Norman Cook as he became the famous DJ Fatboy Slim. The documentary explores both the legacy Fatboy Slim has created and the history of the Big Beach party.
The documentary interviews both attendees who were at the concert, famous fans, and others in the industry familiar with Fatboy Slim. The interviews add a lot to the production. There are some great insights from attendees who were at the concert at the time it was held in 2002 reminiscing on it, remembering how special it was, and how the time has gone by since.

Produced by Ben Lowe, Fatboy Slim: Right Here, Right Now A Big Beach Boutique Celebration is directed by Jak Hutchcraft. The documentary is a tribute to the enduring legacy of beloved DJ Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook), who appears in the documentary as himself. Edited by Eoin McDonagh, Fatboy Slim: Right Here, Right Now A Big Beach Boutique Celebration is well paced and has a great flow throughout. The documentary manages to rekindle a lot of the magic of the original concert with footage showcasing the event and the history surrounding it.
Fatboy Slim: Right Here, Right Now A Big Beach Boutique Celebration is a beautiful documentary and one that fans of the artist wont want to miss. The documentary has a clear affection for the musician. Fatboy Slim has long been one of my favorite artists and the DJ has such an incredible passion for his music and sense of enthusiastic creativity that it is showcased at every corner of the documentary. An essential viewing for fans of the musician both those interested in the epic concert itself and the musician behind-the-scenes who helped to usher in a new kind of dance music that has become legendary the big-beat sound.

Released on Blu-ray by Dazzler Media, Fatboy Slim: Right Here, Right Now A Big Beach Boutique Celebration is presented in 1080 MPEG-4 AVC encoded high-definition. The high-definition video appears to be inconsistent depending on the source. Some of the footage looks upscaled and is apparently standard-definition while other footage is native high-definition video footage showcasing nice overall clarity and detail. The documentary uses a lot of archival photographs and clips with varying quality and the result is a presentation that looks a bit inconsistent at times. Even so, a pleasing enough transfer of the documentary.

The release is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The primary surround sound audio presentation is pleasing throughout. The dynamics impress with good clarity and fine detail. The lossless audio encoding capably highlights the audio soundtrack and soundstage, providing a crisp and satisfactory audio experience for the Fatboy Slim music used in the documentary.

Unfortunately, there are no on disc bonus features on the release.

Fatboy Slim: Right Here, Right Now A Big Beach Boutique Celebration is an incredible love letter to legendary DJ Norman Cook. Fatboy Slim is one of the best DJs in the history of dance music and his passion for celebration and creating great memories through his concerts is showcased nicely with this loving documentary tribute a tribute to both the epic concert held in 2002 and to the enduring legacy of the musician. Highly recommended.
