Redo of Healer: Complete Collection Blu-ray Movie Review
An average-at-best anime with a so-so concept.
Reviewed by Neil Lumbard July 25, 2022
Redo of Healer is a steamy anime set against a backdrop of vengeance. Produced by Aya Iizuka, Natsuki Miyagawa, Satoshi
Motonaga, Seiichi Kawashima, Sojiro Arimizu, Taiyō Matsuda, and Terushige Yoshie, Redo of Healer features original animation
produced by TNK (Blade Dance of the Elementalers, Cosplay Complex). Created by Rui Tsukiyo, Redo of
Healer is a sex-capade anime for fans of the genre.
Keyarga (Yūya Hozumi) finds himself developing unexpected and untold powers. Unfortunately, the powers come with a catch.
Keyarga’s powers lead to him becoming abused and used time and time again. Determined to reverse course, Keyarga receives a visit from
his future self with knowledge pertaining to such a reversal of his situation.
Armed with the new knowledge from his future self, Keyarga decides to switch up the situation and seek freedom from his tormentors. Now
Keyarga manages to seek out vengeance and with a goal in mind: to make the Queen who captured him become his slave. Can Keyarga find the
revenge he seeks?
The series is a somewhat standard one in regards to characters. The series is focused more on the sexy episodes between the cast than on
exceptional character development. As such, Keyarga isn’t one of anime’s more interesting male leads – the character fills a
role and there isn’t much more to the plot. Nonetheless, an adequate cast of characters given the genre and context of the series itself.
Though it’s certainly nothing to write-home about.
The animation on Redo of Healer is decent. The series looks colorful and vibrant but the animation also seems to be produced at
a lower-budget than one might hope to find. Under the art direction of Masatoshi Kai (Blue Exorcist, Blue Exorcist),
Redo of Healer is a decent animated production. It’s ultimately not an animated powerhouse but it looks reasonably creative
for this type of series.

"Forgot my eye-balls."
The character designs by Junji Gotō (High School DxD, Ikki Tousen: Xtreme Xecutor) make sure to highlight the
well-endowed Queen and other ladies on the series. The design also makes sure to highlight Keyarga. The character designs for the anime are
based on original character designs by Shiokonbu. While these designs aren’t quite as distinctive or memorable as on some series, these
designs nonetheless seem to fulfill a certain role and expectation of the series.
The score composed by Akinari Suzuki (Bakugan: Evolutions, The Island of Giant Insects), Johannes Nilsson
(The Island of Giant Insects, Bakugan: Evolutions), and Kenji Fujisawa (Hyakko, Baki)
isn’t particularly memorable. The music might be one of the weakest elements of the series as it doesn’t manage to engage. The
music simply fills a role as backdrop music to the production and doesn’t add much depth or dimension to the production – though
audiences viewing the series are likely not even considering those elements as a priority, per-se.
The cinematography by Tadashi Kitaoka (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Love Live! Superstar!!) is
average. The visuals are acceptable looking but nothing stands out as particularly memorable. The results are simply so-so and underwhelming.
The cinematography is bright and colorful as needed. However, the cinematography seems to lack the visual finesse of better anime productions.
Written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Black Clover, How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord), Redo of Healer is
something that seems cookie-cutter and uninspired. The scripting could have been better. Instead, everything seems dull and average. The story
itself isn’t that compelling and is simply there to be connective-tissue between the sex scenes.
Directed by Takuya Asaoka (Senran Kagura Shinovi Master, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The
Commandments), Redo of Healer is a pretty average anime and there simply isn’t that much to recommend. Redo of
Healer is mainly going to appeal to those who can put aside interesting storytelling for a sexy, steamy, anime with plenty of sex scenes
– if that sounds appealing, Redo of Healer might be worthwhile, but it’s not that interesting.
Redo of Healer: Complete Collection Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality

Arriving on Blu-ray from Sentai Filmworks, Redo of Healer is presented in 1080p MPEG-4 AVC encoded high definition in the original
television broadcast aspect ratio of 1.78:1 widescreen. The release is an impressive looking one. The high definition visuals look crisp, dynamic, and
pleasing. The animation certainly benefits from the high quality encoding by Sentai Filmworks. The release showcases the background animation,
character designs, and layout artistry well. The encode is vibrant and has excellent color reproduction. The encode doesn't suffer from egregious
issues like banding or macroblocking. A solid presentation of the anime series.
Redo of Healer: Complete Collection Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality

The release is presented in Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo (with English subtitles). The release has an exceptionally crisp and clear
sounding audio presentation. Dialogue is clear and is perfectly balanced within the series. The score is well integrated in to the presentation. The
English subtitles are excellent. The only potential pitfall of the release is the lack of an English dub option for those who prefer an English audio dub.
Nonetheless, those seeking the original language audio track should be perfectly satisfied with the lossless audio encoding.

Redo of Healer: Complete Collection Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Redo of Healer isn't the most inventive anime series around and it simply goes through the paces. The concept is mostly
focused on the sex appeal and not much else. If looking for some titillation and not much else, Redo of Healer might be worth checking
out. The Blu-ray release has an excellent video/audio presentation and a small selection of extras. Fans of the series will be pleased.
