Rebirth of Mothra III Blu-ray Movie Review
That's a lot of rebirths.
Reviewed by Martin Liebman September 5, 2014
Note: 'Rebirth of Mothra III' is currently only available as part of a bundle with 'Rebirth of Mothra' and 'Rebirth of Mothra II.'
The evil Belvera (Aki Hano) is once again at odds with her more peaceful sisters, Moll (Megumi Kobayashi) and Lora (Misato Tate). This time, she's
after an artifact that will grant her weapon great powers. She also leaves her siblings with a dire warning, saying that "The King of Terror" is coming
back to Earth.
Soon thereafter, Japan's citizens witness an astonishing meteor shower that signals the arrival of "The King of Terror," also known as "King Ghidorah."
Moll and Lora fear it's the return of the very thing that one day, millions of years ago, killed the dinosaurs and that could cause unimaginable
destruction on modern day Earth. Suddenly, many children vanish. It turns
to they're begin held inside a giant egg under King Ghidorah's control. Now, the fate of the world rests on Mothra's ability to defeat its greatest
challenge yet.

Rebirth of Mothra III Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality

Rebirth of Mothra III arrives on Blu-ray with a high quality 1080p transfer. Sony's Blu-ray presentation enjoys a clean and accurate film-like
texturing. Light grain remains and accentuates fine details across the board, including human faces, Mothra's monster fur, trees and grasses, and
manmade
structures alike. Colors are a touch drab but stand apart nicely in brighter scenes. Black levels are fine, and flesh tones present no cause for concern.
Rebirth of Mothra III Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality

Rebirth of Mothra III features a pair of audio tracks. Included is the original Japanese language DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 lossless soundtrack
and the dubbed English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 lossless soundtrack. Also available are English, English SDH, and French subtitle options. Despite
the lack
of a surround support element, the track offers a wide sense of space, albeit only across the front. Clarity is slightly improved over the previous entries
in this Rebirth series, which suffered from slightly muddled major sound effects. Music is crisp and nicely defined throughout the entire range.
Dialogue in the
original Japanese is fine, but the English track is a touch shrill. Otherwise, there are no discernible differences in either track.
Rebirth of Mothra III Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

This Blu-ray release of Rebirth of Mothra III contains teasers and trailers: Teaser 1 (1080i, 0:23), Teaser 2 (1080i, 1:14), and
Theatrical Trailer (1080i, 2:04). All are presented in the original Japanese (Dolby Digital 2.0) with optional English
subtitles.
Rebirth of Mothra III Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Rebirth of Mothra III retains the series' focus on children but plays with a slightly more serious tone than its predecessors. It remains action
packed and full of twists and turns and surprise guests in one of the biggest, baddest battles ever to not involve Godzilla. Like its Rebirth
predecessors, this entry enjoys a quality pace and even a feistiness that's sometimes missing in the more serious Godzilla entries, no doubt
thanks to the whacky and weird characters and situations that might raise a few eyebrows but that should leave audiences with a smile. Sony's
Blu-ray release of
Rebirth of Mothra III delivers strong video, quality two-channel lossless audio, and a trio of teasers and trailers. Recommended.
