Rear Window 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman September 18, 2021
Universal has released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece 'Rear Window.' The disc and digital
content
is identical to that found in the wide release, which was previously only available as part of the Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection. See the 'Special Features and Extras'
section of the review below for
more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Rear Window 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

The matte-finished Rear Window SteelBook is a bit busy but it suits the film well. The front panel is made up of a part of the red-brick
apartment exterior where two separate scenes are playing out in two windows, top right and middle right. Other windows and fire escapes are on the
left. The film's title appears in yellow top center along with, in blue, "James Stewart" and "Alfred Hitchcock's." An image of Stewart holding his
binoculars
in front of him, and another of Kelly, have been inserted into the bottom. The image closely resembles original poster artwork. The rear panel features
more of the red brick background holding a black Hitchcock silhouette, center, inside of which is a picture of L.B. Jefferies looking through his camera's
viewfinder. A blue Hitchcock signature appears bottom right. A studio logo and legalese appear bottom left and a model number bottom right, all in
white. The spine holds the same red brick background pattern. The film's title appears center just as it looks on the front. A small white Universal logo
appears at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a scene from the film: the wheelchair-bound L.B. Jefferies on the far
left, clad in his blue robe, looking towards the green-dressed Lisa Carol Fremont on the right, who is reclining; her upper body is firmly on the right.

Rear Window 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

This is a solid SteelBook, not so excellent as Vertigo but collectors will be happy, not only with the packaging but also
the quality of the film and the UHD presentation. Recommended.
