Warner Brothers has released the fantastic Steven Spielberg film 'Ready Player One' in SteelBook packaging, both in 4K UHD and Blu-ray-only configurations, both exclusively available at Best Buy. The

Ready Player One 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Many SteelBooks that lack color variety often fall a little flat, but not this one. Though the entire thing is predominantly blue, purple, and light white,
it's very
attractive. The front image features Wade standing in front of his Columbus, Ohio home, "The Stacks." Several layers of stacked trailers are visible
behind him, though they give way to a bright light source that is behind Wade but in front of the the trailers. Halliday's "Easter Egg" shape looms large
over both, towering to the top of the SteelBook. The film's title appears prominently, but tastefully, atop The Stacks and inside the egg. The rear panel
offers a hint more color. Parzival stands in The Distracted Globe, another bright light source behind him. As the image moves upward, floating platforms
and dancers can be seen, the former of which offers some light pink coloring offsetting the dominant blue, purple, and white. Another bright light
source
illuminates the top-center portion of the image. The spine presents as a simple dark purple strip with the film's title appearing in large, white block
print in
the center, the Warner Brothers logo at the bottom, and a Blu-ray disc logo at the top, even if this set also features a UHD disc. Front and back are
matte finished and resist fingerprinting.
Inside is, of course, the digital copy code, tucked under the tabs on the left. The Blu-ray and UHD discs are staggered-stacked on the right-hand side.
The inner print is also of minimal color but high image detail. Parzival's face appears on the left, staring intently at something on the right...but what?
remove the discs to reveal that he is looking at one of the three keys necessary to unlock Halliday's Easter Egg. The light on his face is rather poor,
illuminating only his left eye while most of his face falls into shadow. The key is much more intensely lit, with a strong light source reflecting off its
top. A credits cluster appears subtly at the bottom of the right-hand side.

Ready Player One 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Ready Player One's SteelBook finds a perfect balance between "busy," "reserved," and "tasteful." It's really full of content -- Wade/Parzival,
The Stacks, The Egg, The Distracted Globe -- but the minimal coloring, light accents, and layout minimize the clutter. It's a beautiful presentation, and
the inner print is pleasing to the eye, too. The on-disc content is terrific for both Blu-ray and UHD. This film, and mention of the SteelBook, will
certainly find a spot on this year's top-ten list. Very highly recommended.
