Reviewed by Martin Liebman July 18, 2018
Warner Brothers has released 'Rampage' to UHD in SteelBook packaging, which is exclusive to Best Buy (a Blu-ray SteelBook is also available). The set includes the same two discs and
digital code from the wide UHD release. Read on for more.

Rampage 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Rampage's UHD SteelBook isn't horrible but it isn't a standout, either. The front side, which depicts George in profile and Davis staring off into
the distance, has a Photoshop-y look about it. Some blurred (smoldering debris?) foreground elements appear at the bottom. "Rampage" appears in
bold, fiery print with Johnson's name written above. The rest of the front cover is a bland, flat off-white/light gray color. The SteelBook ships with a
removable info card that also wraps around the spine in addition to the top. Underneath the same off-white/light gray color dominates, but the image is
much more interesting, featuring George attacking the crocodile (Lizzy) with the wolf (Ralph) watching the action in the background, growling and
ready to pounce. It
also features the blurry foreground image at the bottom. The spine is simple, again carrying over the dominant and dull coloring. The film's title
appears center in the same type and color as seen on the front, with a Blu-ray logo at the top and the famous Warner Brothers shield at the bottom.
The SteelBook will fingerprint but the appearance thereof is minimal with this color scheme.
Inside, the two discs are staggered-stacked on the right hand side. Both are plain looking. The Blu-ray is orange and the UHD is black, each with
minimal print, including only the title, studio logos, a format logo, and some small wrapping text around disc's edge. The two-panel inner print is the
most attractive depiction in the set. On the left is a ferocious George who, it turns out once the discs are removed, is reaching to angrily attack a trio of
soldiers
who have weapons raised in a futile effort to kill the beast before it kills them. There are some minor support elements, like a building in the
background and some points of bullet impact around the creature's abdomen area. A small cast and crew text cluster appears in red at the bottom of
the left-hand side.
Rampage 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Rampage's 4K SteelBook is modestly attractive. The dull off-white/gray coloring and the large amounts of empty space it fills is a drag, but
the artwork is just fine, inside and out. It's a little less busy than the wide release UHD and Blu-ray package, but one cannot help but believe that
there was some superior alternative with less dull blank space appearing so prominently across the front and back.
