Lionsgate has been on something of a SteelBook tear lately, partnering with Wal-Mart for a series of exclusive releases, though their docket continues to be as mystifying as ever in terms of what and how they choose to offer in this packaging format. March saw the release of American Psycho 4K, Dredd 4K + 3D, and Hell or High Water 4K, all of which were somewhat hilariously previously available as exclusives from Best Buy. April sees Lionsgate releasing this film, First Blood 4K, and Rambo: Last Blood 4K, with all three of the SteelBooks offering re-releases in 4K UHD (including one with a previous release on SteelBook, just to make things especially confounding). Lionsgate's fourth April SteelBook, Cutthroat Island 4K , offers the UHD debut of that particular film.

Supplements on each disc are detailed in the above linked reviews. Several photos of the packaging are included here for those interested. This handsomely designed SteelBook offers a nice illustration of Bruce Willis on its front panel, surrounded by the titular color and some allusions to various locales in some of the backgrounds of both the front and back panel, with the back panel also offering silhouettes of several other characters. The interior panels have a somewhat whimsical choice documented in the seventh photo I've uploaded to accompany this review. A mylar O ring looks cheekily like a dossier envelope "hiding" information. Digital copies are also included.

The Red films are often genuinely amusing and enjoyable, and this release may well cater both to fans who never sprang for either the original 1080 or 4K UHD releases, or who in fact may have previously purchased either or both of these titles in either or both of those formats, but who like SteelBooks. The packaging is nicely designed, and at least for franchise fans this SteelBook comes Recommended.
