Pero (Susumu Ishikawa) is an interesting cat. A feline with a thirst for adventure, Pero is determined to set sail and explore the entire world in a journey lasting a mere 80 days. Pero has some extra motivation for the trip around the world, too. If Pero can cross the entire globe in 80 days, Pero will win the entire fortune of the enormously wealthy Lord Grummon.
Despite the possibility of endless riches at the end of sailing around the globe, Pero faces unexpected obstacles left-and-right as assassins and other enemies attempt to stop Pero from achieving his goal. Pero and friends won’t let assassins stop them and the race across the globe continues. Can Pero win the race and get the fortune he desires?

One of the great things about old-school classic Japanese anime is how invigorating and alive the classic anime can feel. The artistry is superb and the style is something that cannot be achieved easily with modern CG animation. Though CG animation can be beautiful it is also a far cry from hand drawn animation.
The score composed by Seiichirō Uno (Moomin, Fables of the Green Forest) is lush and enchanting. The music is exciting and engaging. The score highlights both the quiet character moments and the epic adventure elements of Puss N’ Boots Around The World. The classic score composed by Uno is something that adds a great deal to the production.
Written by Hisashi Inoue (Fables from Hans Christian Andersen, Moomin) and Morihisa Yamamoto (Pyunpyunmaru, Hyokkori Hyōtan-jima), Puss N’ Boots Around The World is a well-written screenplay. Exploring the characters of the Puss N’ Boots universe with superb wonder and adventure, the script provides good characterization, depth, and imagination. The dialogue is well written and the pacing of the story is also superb.

The crisp and detailed high-definition video looks excellent on the release. Background animation and line art are superbly reproduced.
The animation style in Puss N' Boots Around The World is stellar and there is so much to appreciate about the fine artistry of the production. The hand drawn and film-based anime looks so much more alive compared to CG animation. The style is invigorating and the encode capably handles the work of the animators. The quality video encode and specs of Discotek Media make it all the more impressive a presentation.

The lossless audio encoding is wonderful – vibrant and engaging. The score is well reproduced on the release. The music sounds exceptional on the release and adds to the vibrancy of the presentation. Dialogue is crisp, clear, and easy to understand. An impressive soundstage. The sound effects are also well-done and better than expected given the age of the production. Discotek Media provides solid encoding on the release. The English subtitles are well done and are free from egregious spelling or grammatical errors.

The release includes a nicely designed o-card slipcover. The slipcover art is superb and looks great in hand. The under-sleeve artwork also features unique key artwork.
