Psycho 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Universal has released a UHD SteelBook packaging variant for Director Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 Masterpiece 'Psycho.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release, which is currently only available in The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection. Psycho 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

Universal's matte SteelBook will not show handling fingerprints, which is good because black, one of its primary colors, is where the glossy SteelBooks tend to show the most handling smudges. The front panel depicts a few familiar characters and poses from the film in each of the four corners, the most prominent being Marion in her lingerie bottom right. The panel makes use of some expressive, almost psychedelic, colors -- red on the left, blue top right, and yellow bottom right -- to give some sharp contrast to the disproportionate lines and sized imagery. The film's title appears in the familiar "broken" lettering left center, paired with Hitchcock's name. Speaking of The Master of Suspense, his silhouette appears on the back panel against a blue background. The Bates house appears in yellow within his head and down on through his neck. A facsimile signature in red appears bottom right. Bottom left in white is a Universal logo and legalese. Bottom right is a model number, also in white. The spine is a flat black with the film's title, just as it appears on the front, center. A Small white Universal logo has been placed on the bottom.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a handsome black-and-white image from the film depicting Norman Bates and Marion Crane facing one another, he firmly on the left and she firmly on the right, both towards the outer edges.

Psycho 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

This is just a straight repackaging that offers buyers another chance to own the film on the UHD format in SteelBook packaging. This one is better looking than the last one, subjectively speaking to this reviewer's taste. The film is legendary and the UHD presentation is excellent. Very highly recommended.
