An epic masterpiece.

An essential masterpiece that rewards repeat viewings, Princess Mononoke is one of the best films of all time. Hayao Miyazaki (Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro) crafted arguably his most ambitious film, exploring a feud between the forest gods and a small colony of miners: nature versus humans. As Ashitaka receives a curse on his arm during a battle against a boar, the young man goes on a quest to find a cure. Along the epic journey, Ashitaka comes face-to-face with San: Mononoke Hime – the girl who was raised by wolves. Can humans and forest creatures ever learn to live together in peace? Featuring an epic, pulse-pounding score composed by Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away) this breathtaking animated gem is essential.

Princess Mononoke Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

The special edition Blu-ray re-release of Princess Mononoke features steelbook packaging. The collectors steelbook is a beautiful edition for fans of the anime epic. The steelbook shines with the exceptional print quality given to the release. The design is striking: an iconic image from the film against a colorful backdrop (which has a nice shimmery effect in hand). The texture and feel of the steelbook is impressive in hand and it feels like a truly wonderful collectible for fans. Easily the best North American edition of the film to date for steelbook fans. The release also includes the booklet as provided in the standard-edition.

Princess Mononoke Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

One of the greatest epics of all time. Princess Mononoke is an anime masterpiece. Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle) is one of the most important filmmakers in the entire world and with Princess Mononoke he crafted one of his most essential masterpieces. The film is explores the role of humans in nature in a thought-provoking way. The animation is beautiful and every frame is as rewarding as a masterful painting. The Gkids steelbook edition is a gorgeous looking edition that is perfect for collectors. Highly recommended.
