NEW to the release is the following:
Collector's Edition Packaging
The packaging is breathtaking. Once you hold it in your hands you will understand why the release is a must-own for any Studio Ghibli fan. Even the feeling and texture of the box-design feels luxurious and impressive. This is clearly a high-quality premium product. The presentation feels elegant and classy. As you open up the collector's version, the deluxe set is stunning to flip through with some unforgettable images from the feature displayed on each page of the collector's edition packaging.
CD Soundtrack: Score by Joe Hisaishi
This is one of the greatest film scores in the Ghibli pantheon. Hisaishi composed one of the most exciting and triumphant scores to ever grace a Miyazaki film with his effort on Princess Mononoke. This is certainly no small feat when one considers that he has continued to prove time and time again that he is one of the most talented composers working today in the anime industry. The instrumentation is richly textured and the rhythmic nature of the score (from the invigorating use of drums to the quieter moments with brass instruments) is superb. For any Ghibli fan, it's a pure delight to own the soundtrack alongside the film. This collector's edition release is all the better for including the score CD.
Lastly, the collector's edition release also includes an exclusive 40 page booklet featuring artwork and essays on Princess Mononoke.
Princess Mononoke is one of the greatest animated films of all time (in the medium of anime or otherwise). Director Hayao Miyazaki crafted a beautiful masterpiece about the importance of protecting nature through this remarkable cinematic vessel which displays the true strength of the human spirit. It's a film in it's own distinctive class all on it's own. Few films can compare to it's intelligence and artistry. The film is unforgettable.
For serious Studio Ghibli fans, the collector's edition release of Princess Mononoke is an essential upgrade or first-time purchase. The deluxe packaging is stunning and getting the soundtrack alongside a collectible booklet with essays and artwork makes this a must-own edition. This release receives my highest recommendation.
