Pride & Prejudice 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Justin Dekker December 11, 2025

Providing a more deluxe presentation of the much-loved film, 'Pride and Prejudice' arrives on 4K UHD disc in this 'Pride and Prejudice: Twentieth Anniversary Collector's Edition 4K' courtesy of Universal. Based on the timeless novel written by Jane Austen, the film stars Keira Knightly ('The Woman in Cabin 10'), Matthew Macfayden ('Succession'), Rosamund Pike ('Die Another Day'), and Donald Sutherland ('Don't Look Now'). All important legacy on-disc supplemental features have bee brought forward to this release, however, no new features have been added. A slipcover, a Blu-ray disc, and a Digital Code redeemable via Movies Anywhere are also included. Please scroll down to the 'Special Features and Extras' section below for a discussion of the film's new digibook packaging.

Pride & Prejudice 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  4.0 of 5

In a move that seems true to its literary roots, this new Pride and Prejudice: Twentieth Anniversary Collector's Edition 4K is presented in as a slipcased digibook which measures approximately 6.25" x 9.25" x 0.6". The ivory front and back covers of the slipcase have been given numerous spot- gloss highlights and features stylized images of, most notably, Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet, and the Darcy's grand home. Flowers and leaves surround both the structures and the couple. Removing the book, the front cover features an image of Knightley's Elizabeth and Macfayden's Mr. Darcy from near the film's end, as the two finally profess their love for one another. The back cover holds an image of Elizabeth walking through the sprawling fields as she is still tormented by the state of affairs between her and Mr. Darcy. Inside the front cover, the discs are housed on plastic hubs which are stagger- stacked, with the 4K disc on top. The Digital Code floats free. Bound to the back cover is the 41-page full-color book. After a forward and introduction, the pages turn their focus to the screenplay, the film's characters, and their costumes. Major characters receive two pages dedicated to them, while more secondary characters are given only one. The information isn't necessarily deep, but it is an interesting read, and makes for an appropriate companion to the film. Solidly and thoughtfully constructed, the film's fans should be pleased.

Pride & Prejudice 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.5 of 5

Utterly captivating from beginning to end, 2005's Pride and Prejudice is a wonderfully romantic film. The film is unhurried, and Keira Knightley and the rest of her screen family turn in engaging performances that fill the tale with heart and emotion, making it extremely easy to identify with them, feeling the weight of their struggles, and eventually, the heights of their triumphs. Macfayden, for his part, is spot-on as well, but by virtue of the era and the source material he's simply not allowed to have a performance that's as widely ranging and Knightley's Elizabeth. Production values are high, with amazing costuming, and richly interesting locations, both manmade and natural, to keep the viewer's eyes busy in every scene. While new on-disc supplemental features would have been appreciated, the visual upgrade to the film and this appealing slipcased digibook packaging is more than reason enough for the most ardent fans of the film to secure this more deluxe copy, and the Pride and Prejudice: Twentieth Anniversary Collector's Edition 4K comes highly recommended.
