Oppenheimer 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Justin Dekker March 24, 2024
'Oppenheimer 4K' returns in this Walmart exclusive steelbook courtesy of Universal. Starring Cillian Murphy, the film won seven Oscars at the
2024 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Christopher Nolan), and Best Actor (Murphy), and gives viewers insight into the life of
Robert Oppenheimer and his world-changing work on the Manhattan Project. The discs found within are identical to those which comprise the standard UHD release. Please scroll down to the
'Special Features and Extras' section below for a discussion of this new steelbook. A Digital Code is also included.

Purchasing store exclusive releases can sometimes be a tricky business, but none in recent memory has proved to be as difficult as obtaining this
Walmart exclusive steelbook. Considering the standard release was tough to source at the time of its initial release, this perhaps shouldn't be
surprising. I was unable to order the steelbook from Walmart's website and instead had to repeatedly visit multiple locations over the span of 20 days
to secure one, and the store where I was finally able to find it only had a single copy on display in the steelbook endcap.

standard UHD release.

Oppenheimer 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

The cover of the Oppenheimer 4K Walmart exclusive steelbook presents an explosive wrap-around image. The front deptics a very small Robert
Oppenheimer as portrayed by Cillian Murphy standing in front of, and overshadowed by, a mushroom cloud, done in a mix of yellows, oranges, and
blacks. The powerful image beautifully encapsulates the film. The film's title at the bottom is printed in red block letters and is stamped into the
steelbook. Above it reads, "A film by Christopher Nolan". The image on the reverse showcases the same firey cloud that flows naturally into the image
found on the front. Universal's logo appears at the bottom left corner. The film's title appears on the spine in the same red block letters. Happily, the
steelbook sports a brushed finish which provides a good deal of resistance to irksome fingerprints. Opening the steelbook, the 4K UHD disc sits on a hub
on the left side. The Blu-ray of the feature film and the Blu-ray containing special features are stagger-stacked on the right, each on its own hub.
Removing the discs reveals an iconic, two-panel image from the film of Murphy's Oppenheimer wearing goggles and peering through a small viewing
window, his face awash with blinding light from a bomb test.

Oppenheimer 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Fans of the film and steelbook collectors alike will want to add this Walmart exclusive of Oppenheimer 4K to their collections. Powerful and
poetic, it features what is no doubt the best cover art of any of the film's releases. It may be difficult to find, but the end product is worth the effort.
Highly Recommended.
