One Piece: Collection 32 Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Neil Lumbard October 21, 2023

One Piece: Collection 32 continues the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates. Set sail for new fun with the collection bringing together episodes 771-794 of the franchise. Luffy and the rest of the gang are on all new adventures with the collection spanning even more exciting journeys.

One Piece remains one of the most popular and enduring anime franchises of all time. Based on the beloved manga by Eiichiro Oda, the anime has spanned decades of both television and film projects. One Piece is one of the longest running series in world history – anime or otherwise. The series is on physical media released by Crunchyroll (formerly Funimation). Series fans will want to own the nice box-set.

The fun adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates are never over and the journey is one with a lot of surprises in store for the entire crew – sea-sailing once more. The Straw Hat Pirates are on a new mission. After being introduced to Raizo, the entire crew decide to help put an end to Kaido. The Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai-Alliance is newly formed.

Yet the newly formed alliance and its big plans don’t go-through as seamlessly as conceived when the return of Jack cause a lot of commotion. Jack has returned to seek revenge against Zunesha. The confrontation leads to more chaos than anyone ever expected. Who will walk away the victor?

Luffy (the endearing leader of the Straw Hat Pirates) sets forth on a brand-new mission, too. Luffy leads the crew on a rescue mission to retrieve Sanji and bring him back. Heading out to the Totto Land, the strange and fantastical land before the Straw Hat Pirates leads them on a path of new fantastical adventures – a land where even the sky-soaring buildings can be edible delights.

Sanji must even confront painful past memories and face up to his dad before it is too late. The epic quest to bring back Sanji leads to more trouble than any of the Straw Hat Pirates ever expected to encounter. Can Luffy save the day with his heroics?

One Piece just wouldn’t be the same without the lovable cast of characters at the heart of the series: Monkey D. Luffy (Mayumi Tanaka), Nami (Akemi Okamura), Sanji (Hiroaki Hirata), Tony Tony Chopper (Ikue Ōtani), Usopp (Kappei Yamaguchi), Franky (Kazuki Yao), Brook (Yūichi Nagashima), Roronoa Zoro (Kazuya Nakai), Miss Wednesday (Misa Watanabe), and Nico Robin (Yuriko Yamaguchi).

The series just wouldn’t be the same without the large cast of characters – making the series one of the most essential anime productions of all time. One Piece has plenty of great characters and they all are essential to the experience. The journey is that much more fun because of the characters created by Eiichiro Oda.

One of the reasons One Piece has been such an enduring franchise with fans is that is does a great job adapting the original manga by Eiichiro Oda. Oda is a creative visionary – a genius of manga – and the volumes of One Piece are always on the top of the best-sellers list in Japan (outselling Harry Potter). Enchanting audiences around the world, author Eiichiro Oda made a great work of art and it still is continuing to provide fans with more fun adventures.

I have long loved the One Piece manga and it enchanted me with its great tales of fun and adventure. Though I might be behind on the manga, it’s endearing to see it doing so well, providing audiences with so much entertainment and with such lovable characters. The anime is true to the source for a reason. A formula that audiences love.

One Piece has outstanding animation. The animation on the series is one of the most essential and vital parts of the production. The art style of One Piece is exquisite and with animation direction by Kazuya Hisada (Dragon Ball Z) the series is one of the most visually compelling anime series around. The huge scale and ambition of the production is readily apparent. There is so much to appreciate about the art style. The character designs are also exquisite and stay true to the manga as well.

The score composed by Kōhei Tanaka (Angelic Layer, Desert Punk) and Shiroh Hamaguchi (Final Fantasy: Unlimited, Ah! My Goddess) is essential to the production. The anime has one of the most fun scores around. The score is often stuck in my head and sometimes I find myself humming along to the big themes of the score. The music is ambitious, huge in scale, and exciting. The score lifts my spirits – entertaining and exciting in all the right ways.

What would One Piece be without the action scenes? The series is also so popular because of the big action set-pieces. One Piece has some of the most engaging and entertaining action set pieces in all anime – rivaling Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, and My Hero Academia as one of the best for those invested in the action genre. The action is fundamental to One Piece and the series just wouldn’t be the same without the legendary fight scenes.

One Piece: Collection 32 rewards fans with more action-packed adventure. Fans of the franchise will be thrilled with the quality filmmaking. The series remains well-written and well-directed. Fans are on an exciting journey with the series. One Piece: Collection 32 provides plenty of action-packed fun for the series devotees.
