My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Jeffrey Kauffman October 19, 2015
The wonderful theme song to the old sitcom Mr. Ed, co-written by the Oscar winning team of Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, stated, “A
horse is a horse, of course, of course,” but Equestria Girls’ conceit is
that the former equines of My Little Pony fame have transformed into teenage girls. Equestria Girls: Friendship Games
continues this newish franchise which has already seen the Blu-ray releases of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls and My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks.

This is a typically bright and breezy
Equestria Girls affair, supposedly caught up in a competition between Canterlot High School and the
hoity toity Crystal Prep Academy. Canterlot has not had the best of luck competing against Crystal Prep, and this animated outing details some
perhaps underhanded attempts to secure victory. Of course, all ends well (or at least relatively well), with morals delivered about honesty and
the value of friendship and teamwork. This particular
Equestria Girls is surprisingly humorous and it also contains some above average
tunes by regular songwriter Daniel Ingram.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games Blu-ray Movie, Video Quality

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games is presented on Blu-ray courtesy of Shout! Factory with an AVC encoded 1080p transfer
in 1.78:1. As with the prior Equestria Girls releases, this newest Blu-ray sports an incredibly colorful and vivid looking palette, one that
delights not in just bright and bold primaries, but in a wide gamut of interstitial hues and softer pastels. Line detail is sharp and well defined.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games Blu-ray Movie, Audio Quality

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games features a bright and appealing DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix, one which supports the
engaging song score as well as providing good surround activity in some of the film's noisier sequences. Dialogue is cleanly presented and well
prioritized on this problem free track.

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Younger girls will certainly get a kick out of Equestria Girls: Friendship Games. This short animated feature is typically sweet, but
commendably tart at times. A nice sense of humor and some decent songs help boost this outing's entertainment value.
Recommended.
