Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
A first-rate high gloss steelbook release.
Reviewed by Neil Lumbard November 18, 2021
Mortal Kombat Legends - Battle of the Realms is an action-packed adventure by Warner Bros. Based on the
popular video-game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, Mortal Kombat Legends - Battle of the Realms is an entertaining
animated effort produced by James Krieg (Justice League Action, Green Lantern: The Animated Series
) and Rick Morales (Beware the Batman, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusader). Featuring
voice-performances by Jennifer Carpenter, Joel McHale, and Fred Tatasciore.
The evil emperor leading the Outworld Shao Kahn (Fred Tatasciore) prepares an epic battle. The final Mortal Kombat is soon underway. The heroes
of the Earthrealm must join forces in order to fight the villain and save the day. Sonya Blade (Jennifer Carpenter) and Johnny Cage (Joel McHale) join
the fight.
The production is a well animated effort. The team of animators did a reasonably good job with the tournament aesthetic. The animation was
creative and the character designs were effective as well.
The action scenes make the movie worth seeing. Mortal Kombat Legends - Battle of the Realms is not high art by any means.
Everything is
centered on the tournament and the fight scenes. These are the main reason to experience the film. The action delivers in spades with some creative
fights. Highly
entertaining.

Time for battle!
The music by John Jennings Boyd (Crazy Beats Strong Every Time, A Lego Brickumentary) and Eric V. Hachikian (When We
First Met, Marco Polo) gives the action some added gusto as well. The score is fast-paced and engaging. The music provides some extra
excitement to the tournament.
The screenplay by Jeremy Adams (Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island, Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans) isn't anything to write
home about. The script has average dialogue and a so-so storyline that doesn't impress much. Everything is focused on the fights and the script
simply isn't that creative or intelligent. Don't
watch for the storyline.
Directed by Ethan Spaulding (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge), Mortal Kombat
Legends - Battle of the Realms is well worth checking out. It's a fun animated spectacle. The fight scenes are full of energy. Not a perfect
film by any stretch of the imagination but it's entertaining.
